That lighter-grey discolored portion of the roadway in front of you at the 1:29 minute mark is where a section broke free and fell on the lower deck in the '89 quake: www.baybridgeinfo.org/1989

How did they build what appears to be a brand new highway in the city just beyond the end of the bridge?
