I point out that the inheritance was given freely to Whitney, contingent upon her winning...but it never said anything about Jason getting it if he won. Which, given the spirit of the rest of the will...he probably wouldn't.

Given how the will is written, I would think that the dad arranged for cops to be present outside the room to arrest whoever gets the gun and shoots the others. And the rest of the will would probably read; “Congratulations, my sole heir. You now have possession of the estate. I trust that you will enjoy this as your home once you have served time for four counts of assault or murder.”
