Growing up in New York City in the 70's I used to shop at the Woolworths on 86th & 3rd I would buy 45's & Baseball cards. The place was special to me. It seemed otherworldly.

We visited NYC whenever possible and the Woolworths in Times Square was the best place in the world for getting souvenirs that didn't cost an arm and a leg. Our own Woolworth's was my favorite place for Christmas shopping. It seemed like you could find anything there! Loved having lunch there too. I wasn't in much of a rut - tuna salad sandwich on white toast, piece of blueberry pie, and a lemon coke.

I remember going to Woolworths as a little girl. There were balloons over the lunch counter and you could get one and pop it and what ever amount was in the balloon is the amount you would pay for a sunday. It looked exactly like this one. Memories, ty Jordan.

Woolworths had really good fresh candy. Lunch counter food was good too. The stores did what Kmart recently did by letting their stores get shopworn and dumpy. Shoppers went elsewhere.

What a retro treasure trove! Love it. And that luncheonette looked like something out of the 1990 series Twin Peaks. I'm old enough to remember Woolworth's, with its lunch counter and fountain drinks and grilled cheese; I loved the whole aroma of that store. And it was the kind of place where a person could buy pet food, hard candy, and socks in one trip (back when we didn't have so much Costco or Walmart and such ... and the big department stores weren't right in town). Too bad that photo of Ms. Winters wasn't for sale. No fair.

Wow! Amazing there's a Woolworths like that still... Love that there's an antique mall there too. I have some carnival glass, and a pale pink glass piggy bank like the one shown( my grandparents) gave it to me when I was around 12)... My grandpa smoked Velvet pipe tobacco. That was a beautiful portrait of Shelley. So much nostalgia, I love antique malls. Thanks Jordan☺💝🎆

Hi Jordan, oh, how I miss Woolworths, many a nice lunch I've had in Woolies. I still have some old Christmas decorations that I bought in the 1970's from Woolworths, and they still look ok. I must be getting old, I saw a few things in those Antique Malls that I had years ago. I liked that 'Three Stooges' cookie jar. Great vlog Jordan.

This brought back great memories and can hardly wait till I can travel to Bakersfield to experience it in person. Love antique malls and this one looks tremendous! What a great photo of Shelly Winters. The Woolworth's in my hometown was where I bought some of my first records. They were downtown and it was a long bike ride from my house but I remember buying The Beatles 1967-70 double album on sale and gently cradling it in one hand all the way home. I also bought a colored green 45 of ELO's Telephone Line when it came out. What a dreamy song.

This is awesome. My high school memories. We had a Woolsworth in our town here in Eugene, Or. :) I ate at the counter all the time while waiting for the city bus (which cost 25 cents...lol). The butlers that you showed are for the entry way of nice homes that held the gloves :) they are so cool. When I go into antique stores, I feel old. Why you ask? Because I see lots of toys I played with as a kid.....ha ha. I was born in 1957. Love your videos. So fun. I am a "Golden Era" fanatic. 1940's ...my favorite decade. Thanks for entertaining us when we can't get down there right now. Take care!!

Oh, I forgot. Our Woolworths and Newberrys were next door to each other. They looked similar. Woolworths had a photo booth....cost 25 cents for 4 pics. Upstairs had tons of trinkets and make up, perfumes, sewing, mostly women's items. Hankies etc Downstairs had birds, fish, and little critters for sale and their cages and bowls. And food. Yard stuff, garden and paint. We LOVED it....most things were under $10 and lots of kids items for under $1. Anyway, a bit of trivia :)

I did eat at these a few times but it was because I was older and working there. I dont recall Penneys or Wards having a luncheonette but they may have before my time.
