Once again Kline for the win. I have 3 sets of knee pads, the one's with the crisscross straps are horrible. Most don't have any flex to them so you wind up hurting in a different spot. Thanks Doc

I’ve been an appliance service tech and installer for 30 years and I’m 47 and somehow I have zero joint, knee, or back problems. Only recently have I had to have a double hernia operation. Fortunately, I am still the same weight As it was when I was 25 so I’m pretty slim and trim and I think that’s part of why I don’t have any problems, just recently in the past six months have I started wearing kneepads because an old retired service tech told me I will have problems if I don’t watch it. I’ve been wearing that first pair with the Velcro straps because of size, but they’re wearing out already so I think I’m going to try those clients. I just hope they’re not too big.

Until I was 48 I was the same.. suddenly around 50 my right knee is giving me issues..I can't carry heavy objects and walk up and down stairs like I used to because it feels like it will go out on me. Fathertime always wins☝️

I wear a boiler suit whenever I'm in project mode, they usually come with kneepad insert pouches. Integrated is always better than strap-on.

Recently I had to kneel on a thin foam pad while laying across a table during a polyp biopsy. I barely got through it because of knee pain. When I came back to have the polyp removed I brought my knee pads. My knees were pain free! I wish I could have said the same for the procedure.

DIY guy here using Home Depot Husky Gel Soft Cap Work Knee Pads. Soft enough to not scratch up bathroom floors but also sees a ton of driveway auto repair. 3 years in with 4-6 hours a week. One elastic strap is showing signs. Stays up reasonably well but leaves a mark on the back of your leg.

Could you do a review of Fento or Traxx knee pads? They're really big in Europe.

I work for years as a service tech and welder without knee protection. About Two years ago I was doing a laminate floor without knee pads and wound up getting fluid on my knee. I’ll never work without knee pads again. I’m 47. Young guys, listen to the old timers like us and protect the knees

Most of my working life was spent as a fork truck tech and I first developed knee problems at about 27. We found the ideal knee protection was a fork truck seat cushion. Basically free, salvaged from damaged seats and a plentiful enough supply. Always had one to hand and at 65 my knees are in reasonable condition still. I did try knee pads at one point but found them awkward and they would often snag on stuff if you were crawling underneath a machine. Probably the best solution for keeping on a vehicle kit though.

I got the Toughbuilt ones and honestly they were probably one of the best investments I've made, should have bought them a decade ago. They are a velcro strap, but they are really comfortable in use.

Excellent video and serves as a great reminder of how proper safety and protection is paramount when doing repairs or being physically active in general. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the good Doc.

4:45.. Harbor Freight has a dozen different types I prefer my old DeWalt pads with a gritty surface and the clips. Made by CLC.. they make alot of Harbor Freight's too..

Hands down best knee pads for work are those that are gel insert , with a firm rubber surface similar to a work boot , they keep you out of any water on the floor , give you grip and access to areas you would normally not be able to be , and allow you to quickly move around at low levels without having to get up and down all day .

one overlooked feature of knee pads is... you can kneel on damp surfaces or even shallow puddles without getting wet. Bonus: cactus protection. workpants with pockets for knee pads great. Europe is way ahead of the USA in workwear (among other things lol)

I still use the volleyball ones LOL. Btw I saw those Klein kneepads on clearance in Lowes the other day.

I have to kneel down on rocks quite a bit and I am feeling the knees these days. I have knee pads with a hard plastic shell that were not that expensive but I'm thinking of getting either the Toughbuilt "GelFit Fanatic" or "FoamFit Specialist" both with thigh support.

Also, has anyone tried ProKnee's? My tile guy reccomended them. They're expensive so I skipped, but look like a great solution for longer projects where you know you'll be kneeling

I've always hated knee pads. They never stay on, when you start walking around they get in the way. I prefer kneeling pads, and if I'm going to be working a lot on my knees. I'll use pants with built in knee pad inserts. Much less of a head ache.

I found that the two strap kind (a strap above and one below the knee) uncomfortable. I wear knee pads all day long at work.
@aguycalledlucas7 ай бұрын
Which ones do you wear?
@jamesnelson68487 ай бұрын
My main pair are "were" called Patella T gell pads with the top strap removed. The gell didn't last long so I replaced it with foam rubber and replace it from time to time. These pads are 25 years old lol. New ones I've bought for home and all vehicles are the low priced single velcro strap model he showed in the video. They are ok for short term so far but I'm sure the cloth face would wear out quickly if used on pavement or concrete.
