Hey Mark, While you’re working on the trunk I think I mentioned this on another one of your videos in the comments regarding the fender system. I added poly-fil to the sub enclosure. Basically I stuffed as much in as would fit. It made it sound tighter and added a bit more volume output without changing the gain in dash. A cheap, quick project.

if i had the Fender i might have done that

In Europe the system is called Dynaudio (Danish high-end), but I wouldn't be surprised if the components are identical..

i dont know about mk7s, but on mk5s you can remove the door outer metal skin and then exactly one peice of noico fit perfectly on it. super easy and saves the time of removing the door panels

not any more. and that was a nightmare. i did it on my mk6's also.

@@LastHumansGarage was it just as difficult on mk6?

There is a lot of noise/vibration that comes through the fender wells- getting good coverage around the inside in the area where the shocks mount.

Thanks for the video. Does it help to reduce the road noise coming from tires? Plan to do the same on my gold GTI 2021

well not the trunk really.. but the floor and under the rear seat is good.
@yellowcuda19683 жыл бұрын
I am about to do this job and appreciate the video. That said, I don’t think you actually needed to remove 50% of what you did. You can get trunk carpeting out without pulling side trim and you don’t need to remove the rear seat back, just the bottom cushion.
@LastHumansGarage3 жыл бұрын
dude, if you can save time w that, you're better than me!

Thanks so Much.. I've massive water ingress into boot from vents behind bumber, this is great , only video showing how to remove side panels/ liners. The drain grommet on the tail gate also perished as in many golfs. I've the carpet and back seats out drying. Many thanks that side piece is mo fun.

I couldn't get the carpeting off to get the rear wheel wells. I may do it in the summer. Do you have any tips, it was a pain and I couldn't get anything to move even with unbolting what appeared to be the holding pieces. Bass form the stock sub seems amazing. 1.5 sheets did my entire spare/sub well and 80% of under my rear seats. Covered it some of the noico foam in addition in the trunk and other the seats. It seems about 20-30% quieter w/akrapovic exhaust and the valves coded open.

nice bro! and nice exhaust!

You need to take the side plastics up to get the carpet that's over the wheel well though right?
@LastHumansGarage3 жыл бұрын
not sure, i just did whatever is in my video.

@@LastHumansGarage yeah you mentioned after that you may not have needed to pull those, so I wasn't sure if you could get to that spot without doing that.

Hi, thanks for the video. I would like to know if you have do the trunk door also. I would like to know if there is space to insulate the trunk door
@LastHumansGarage Жыл бұрын
the hatch door you mean? you can noico under the plastic covers.. but it will make the hatch heavier and harder to open also. and put extra stress on the hatch shocks.

Did you measure the decibel reading before and after adding the sound deadening material?
@LastHumansGarage4 жыл бұрын
no
@jhamm156 жыл бұрын
Was it worth deadening in the trunk hatch? I did all 4 doors on my Jetta MK6 thoroughly with noico 80mil few years back. I still have enough left to do the trunk but have been holding off cuz I wasn't sure it was worth it. I also have the spare wheel mounted Helix sub/amp accessory from VW. Would noico material help with bass response at least in the wheel well?
@LastHumansGarage6 жыл бұрын
especially a good idea if you have a sub in there. and cancels some of the interior muffler noise.

this is actually a really good idea. i plan to do it for my mk6

@blower16 жыл бұрын
Nice job...you remind me of me so much. It's a lot of work, and yep i was sweating and worn out after doing mine. I split it into few stages like yourself as it is so much work. It's worth it though - if anything just to have that road noise intrude less into your music, also the roar of some road surfaces really takes from the overall daily driving experience. By the way, i'm in process of selling my Mk6 and moving to a Golf R Mk7.5 :D....a lot of what you do with your GTI will still be relevant to me just because it's a mk7 platform, not that really matters as i still enjoyed the content when you had a WRX and none of it was relevant to me!
