That dark green/brown would be a great base color for a Scottish plaid!

Both colours were amazing, especially the brown one. There are lots of marigold planted in the park near my home. Once the flowers start to bloom and start to fall, I'll pick them.

If you wanted something more in the realm of forest green, (of course natural dyeing so YMMV) I think that if you mordant the wool with Alum soak it like you did for the dark brown, then briefly dip the wool in an iron bath, you will get something more green and a bit lighter.

Those turned out great. I saw someone use rhubarb leaves and it turned out a really beautiful moss green. I hope I can find some to do next year.

Just planted marigolds....I am in Tasmania so we are moving into Spring/Summer....can’t wait till the season end to play with Marigolds...enjoy your cast so much. As a new spinner I am intrigued by the dyeing process. Look forward to your future casts💐

This video is so helpful and WOW that dark green/brown is amazing! I'm in the middle of dyeing with marigolds for the first time as I grew a bunch this year and we just got our first frost. My first batch is with alum mordant and it's a beautiful greenish yellow. Next up I want to try with iron mordant after seeing your gorgeous results!

I think these colors are gorgeous. Thank you for your enthusiasm. You are inspiring to me. I also think there was a reaction with the pan you used for the darker yarn. That may explain what happened to create such a rich hue. It looked like it was an aluminum pan.? Could be... I love this channel, glad I found you! Thanks again.✨🙏

Such a fabulous video! Do you need to dry the blossoms first or can you use them fresh?

What form do you buy the iron/where can you get it?
@LastMinuteLaura2 жыл бұрын
I collect rusty items in the city on the ground (wear gloves) then,I set the items into a large glass jar. Then, I mix 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water, and cover the rusty items with the liquid. I leave the jar alone for a month or so, then use the liquid ad my iron solution. You can also buy iron powder online!

Cool dark yarn. I got extremely annoyed with the like bubbles And subscribe bubbles that kept popping up. I wanted to watch the video, not a bunch of poppy little buttons interrupting what I was looking at.
