I have seen this episode years before, and I have spent some years performing preclinical biomedical research. After recently being in jury duty, I heard the worst defense lawyer use that phrase after testimony from the worst expert witness in history. I nearly audibly laughed because of the phrase 'reasonable degree of scientific/medical certainty'. Meanwhile, all of the other doctors and medical professionals that gave expert testimony for the state were fully reasonable and intelligent without saying something so ridiculous. I still cannot believe I saw this shows' joke in real life.

I stopped watching "CSI anywhere" after a crossover episode and CSI Las Vegas says to CSI New York "we can help out our labs all caught up." I know it's TV but that line was so disconnected from reality they should have had John Oliver spitting it out!!

Looking back is sickening. The corporations that pushed hardest for those tax cuts said they were going to use them to "grow wages." After they passed, a handful of the most outspoken companies gave their employees a one-time bonus; but not raises. While some of the bonuses were in the range of $5,000-10,000, a $1/hr raise would be of more value to most employees over the long haul. They also found that the economic growth that they had said these cuts would bring was non-existent.

In addition the way prosecutors in general act overall is an issue. Being rated on convictions means they're encouraged to get convictions regardless of actual guilt. If they CAN make a case, they often will, despite the facts or guilt or not.
