lATA DIDI is the only artiste ever that when she sings in concerts it like she is singing in a fully equpied studio and GOD she delivers her voice allover the place. Most of the other artistes when they are in concert all they do breathing in the mic while others singing become as they are singing in a drum.

Fully agree with you. When other singers perform live their voices drown with all the live music and you actually don't enjoy it all that much (with some exceptions) something which never happens when Lata sings. That's the reason her live performance is appreciated and loved so much. Awaaz ka jaadu!

I attended this concert with my parents when I was a kid. It was hosted for fundraising for 'Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital' in Pune. There is backdrop of Deenanath ji. My school was partner with Deenanath Mangeshkar Foundation for this event and I also sold some tickets. Our school asked us this as compulsory activity. There was another concert in Nigdi-Pune after few days of this show. I attended that too. Sonu Nigam was also there in that concert. This really took me back to my school days. Best memories.

Agreed that Lataji doesnt sound the same as she used to but the fact still remains that she has given the most heart touching songs all these years...I have been to several of her concerts and have been touched by her presence. I have felt blessed that I was in the same auditorium where she was present. Even if she didn't sing and just stood there I would still have felt her divinity. People may find her voice unbearable now but to me she is maa Saraswati and only to be worshipped.

Lataji's voice here is in top form - however the recording of this video has some sound problem no doubt and hence gives the wrong impression of her lack of voice in this rendition - as for Lataji I have heard all singers including the present young lot and including her sister Asha and after listening to Lataji's thousands of songs from the 40's and on I conclude that so far there has not been any female Indian playback singer who has the ability to raise her vocals ( sur ) as Lataji has.

Actually, no, he hasn't. He did not say something bad about her voice. Just that in other parts of the world we grow up with different types of voices...from I don't know, Sarah Brightman to Lisa Gerrard. It's all a matter of education. The original song is something of real beauty. It's obvious her voice here has changed/declined over the years, but against the backdrop of modern movie music and remixes it so important to have her as a link to the past. I'd watch this anyday over some of the stuff I see and hear in modern music. Whilst she's no longer the perfect singer, there's a fragility and sadness in her voice that gets you right there. Allow her these frailties now as we'll miss her when she's gone!
