I just watched this with my friend a week ago and something about it, which I really can't explain, kept me watching. The best part about it was how imperfect(?), raw and outdated the cinematography choices were. And Jack Delroy (David Dastmalchian) is such a good actor! It really baffles me how this is one of the only projects where he is the main lead. He really needs more recognition. Also, for some reason i found it so interesting and slightly authentic how there was this slight tone of racism shown in the movie when they played indian music for Christou when he clearly is not Indian (he could be Mexican since he said si multiple times to punctuate his sentences)
@tiffanykim27733 ай бұрын
You sure you didn't imagine that racism?
@iphris_in_words3 ай бұрын
@@tiffanykim2773 i hope not. you can see in the subtitles that they mentioned indian music there but I could be wrong as well or the subtitles might be wrong

I think you are right on the money with that assessment. I started watching Johnny Carson with my mom in 1975. They would be racist right out loud on a regular basis.

Dastmalchian could definitely take Jake Gyllenhaal-type roles, I’m thinking of something like Nightcrawler specifically. He is a leading man, top billing, A-list actor in my eyes.

My favorite horror movie this year so far. I'm so happy to see David Dastmalchian finally get a lead role and he did not disappoint. The Grove is a real thing and still exists lol. Enjoyed y'all's reactions as always. Yes, Ed and Lorraine Warren are from the Conjuring universe and were very well known in the 1970s.

David Dastmalchian is severely underutilized as an actor. He needs more lead roles, especially in horror since he is such a huge genre fan.

I love this movie. Putting these events in the context of a show with someone "disproving" the events is a good conceit. Wish they didnt do the strange lightshiw transformation thing at the end, I dont think the visuals they chose match the feeling of the film. Still recommending "Cube" and "Fallen" for you guys. Think you'd get a kick out of it and have a lot of fun theories. Hearing Dan mention rituals also made me remember the movie "The Ritual" which I think would be a good fit for you guys as well, Looking forward to seeing your "REC" reaction! Captain Howday was the name of the demon because Regan's father's name was Howard, so it looks like she's made an imaginary friend to cope with her father not being around after her parents divorce but the film never explains that. Ritual and ceremonies are not the same. Ritual might be a ceremony but not a the other way around. Isn't baptism a ritual and a ceremony, but exorcism is a ritual but not a ceremony.
