My stainless waste basket also got damaged. Wow...we have so much in common. I did cry after the movers left. I moved from N. Ga to Wi (my home state) I was only in Ga for 5 years. But I missed so much with grandchildren and daughter and family.

I would be there in a heartbeat if I lived a little closer. The first thing I always did when I moved to a new place, would make up my bed, arrange my toiletries for bath, and make sure my coffee pot & the makings were ready to go. Then my first room to start on would be kitchen necessities organized. If I were you, for now , set up a comfortable sitting area around your fireplace so you have a spot to relax & take deep breathes. Take a hot bath & a good nights rest in your bed will make for a better day tomorrow. Oh, maybe a glass of wine too before bed. ❤️. Your home is beautiful.

Exactly…great advice. I did just what you said when I moved. Bed first, coffee pot hooked up. A good nights rest and a fresh pair of eyes the next morning does wonders. I’m new to her channel, so I know she set up fine, I’m just catching up.

Look what you have done as a "late bloomer"! You are so brave and ambitious! And by yourself! Wow, girl, you rock! Take a few minutes, if you can, each day to walk around the yard and woods. It will help you to hit a reset and maybe give you a little boost of ambition to attack the boxes again. Look forward to seeing your progress!

Such a lovely sunroom... it will be so adorable when you have put your talent to work, decorating it! This house has so many possibilities! Just take it one day at a time... as you empty the first few boxes, I would suggest you store an empty one in each room to corral the things you think might look nice or eventually make their permanent home there. You have alot of space, and the perfect season to contemplate how you want it to be! Everything will come together, dear Kaye. Tears are cleansing, I totally understand the overwhelm. Btw, you need to change your channel name from Urban to "Country!" Or whatever you deem most appropriate :)

It will be alright. Take a deep breath and set a goal of so long (ex: 2 hours of unpacking or 10 boxes per day). This will make you feel accomplished and not overwhelmed. When you time is up or # of boxes unpacked, walk away. When you are not doing that make a list of what you need for supplies, make a timeline of when you would like to get things done, get in the car and drive around to get familiar with the area. Order some seeds from Baker Creek from the new catalog, plan on getting those boxes built you need and hire someone to do it before spring. You will feel better getting some of these things rolling while you are working on others. The property is beautiful and I bet very quiet. You are blessed!

I moved across country too and I know it's overwhelming. Take your time unpacking. It's so much work and I feel like you will get a better feel for how you want to use all the rooms if you take your time. Take some time to figure out which bedroom feels right to you. You can hire someone to move furniture upstairs if you want your bedroom to be upstairs. Don't let that hold you back. You deserve to have the home feel just right for you! Yes to good boots! I used to live in Florida and snakes were everywhere but a good pair of boots will keep you safe.

Yes! Even indoors. I watch KC Littleowl, a herbalist here on utube, and she just got bit by a snake inside her home on the arch of her foot. She said she never saw it and didn’t find it after the bite. Wow…wear them instead the home too…idk…maybe not boots, but I’m sure the people their know what and how to do that.

I understand & feel your pain! 😊 We had our things in storage for a year while we built our house. We were SO TIRED & then the headache of moving in! My mother-in-law shared to us, just unpack the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, & put remaining boxes in garage to slowly unpack while recovering. Hope her advice is helpful. But really you need peace & recovery time. Blessings 🎄

Never done that, but I've seen videos where gardeners start beds by using a layer of cardboard... Have you tried that? Also leaves... You don't need to harvest all the leaves, let the pros do most of it, but before they come make a pile for compost. Good luck on settling in. Wishing you the best

The movers have been tremendously busy in 2020. It took 7 weeks for the professional movers to move our possessions (mostly boxes and minimal furniture) from Florida to Arizona this past Summer. I think massive numbers of people moving and the pandemic are the culprits.

I went to check if I’d missed any other recent ones and since I didn’t know of your channel all these years ago, I clicked on this one to see how things have progressed. I caught a glimpse of Linden as you were walking up the garage steps into the house and the look on her face was, “hey lady, put some food in my bowl” …. I’ve seen that exact same look with Harry Houdini, I may have my hands full with laundry or something and I’ll look down to see the “kitty stare” of… “feed me, look at my bowl, it’s empty, yes I just wolfed down a whole package of wet food but I’m ready for something extra, please!” God bless you Kaye, you have a lovely channel! Hi Kaye. I moved from Chgo to TN in the Sparta area 1 yr ago. I know how you feel. Its overwhelming when you are surrounded by tons of boxes. I'm still unpacking and rearranging things. But focus on the good things - your house is beautiful and the yard is magical. There are so many possibilities in your future. TN is such a beautiful state wether its snowing, raining, foggy or just hot and sunny. I had a standard city lot in Chgo that was 35 x 125 on which was my house and garage and a tiny amount of yard area for me to garden, now I have 16 acres. I dont know what to put where because there is so much room! I can't wait to see how you do your garden so I can be inspired. But for now have a tea and relax. tomoorow is another day. Welcome back to TN.

Hang in there, girlfriend, it'll all come together. Don't stress yourself over getting it done too fast - take your time and enjoy the process - it'll be your last time doing it. 😊 As for the ceiling fan, check the switch located just below the blades to make sure it's flipped to the winter setting and set the fan to the lowest spin setting. The fan will distribute the heat from the wood stove more efficiently. I use mine to great effect. You may also wish to find a couple of small fans to setup near the stove pointing to the outlying areas of the house. I use one near the top of my stairs to blow the heat back down to the lower floor. Experiment some with placement and you'll have more comfortable heat. Thank you for the tour. LOVE the upstairs. The bonus room would be a wonderful sewing room or meditation area. Take your time and get a feel for how you'll like to use the spaces before you bring anything heavy upstairs. Looking forward to more videos.

Very nice House and Property Kaye. Just my thoughts, because I am doing it here now. This is the time to let things go, especially possessions. I look at something now and say, does it have any memories attached, is it worth anything, really, have I used it or even seen it in the last 5 to 10 years or more. If the answers to these questions no. Then I give it away to someone who wants or needs it. I mean come on Kaye your one person in a 4 Bedroom house. Just my thoughts and food for thought. Obviously your overwhelmed at the moment but you should be documenting all that was damaged or missing through your move to let the moving company aware. But just take a deep breath and start in one room. It will all work out. And you could always have a garage sale if you have too much stuff!!!😊

Your absolutely an inspiration. The are few people who would have the strength to take on such a dramatic change. I understand the need to organize when people are coming. Don’t stress too much because you will have time to live with the house and the land which always gives one a greater appreciation for how things should be. Slow and steady wins the race and don’t unwilling to change something around until you just love it. That’s what my mother taught me ☺️

The electric wood chippers are fine. And you can use the larger branches as kindling for your wood stove. Goats are great for clearing brush in the woods, you have to make sure you do not have any poisonous plants there. You would need movable fencing with them. Pigs are better because they dig up roots, but they are harder to deal with on your own because they are heavy and not as tamable as goats. You can even hire people with goats to set up the area you want to be cleared and when the goats are done they are gone.

Lovely house! Love the beautiful hill in front, would be great with some fruit trees on it. You need some rubber mucker boots for the woods and garden. I think those would probably keep you safe from a snake bite also.

Believe it or not there are four young fruit trees they planted two peach in to Apple and the deer have eaten all the leaves so they’re hard to see but you can see them in my very first video here a new dawn so I’m gonna probably have to get deer fencing

@@Latebloomershow Yes! Make sure the tree trunks are protected or the deer and rabbits will eat the tender bark around the tree and kill them. 😬. I wonder if tinfoil wrapped around the bottom of the tree would keep them away?? 🤔

Hi Kaye, I know this video is three weeks old and someone may have made a similar suggestion below. But, you deserve to get a riding lawn mower. You operate one so well and with the side of your homestead, it will be a very wise investment. So, put pulling a cord to start a mower out of your expectations. Think 🚜⛳💪.
@Latebloomershow
@Latebloomershow 3 жыл бұрын
I really thought I would do that, but I have to wait for a big investment like that till I see what's going to happen with the dollar. In the meantime, I found a great lawn service (you can see them in a following video to this one) and they fixed me up till April (when I will have to mow again) for a reasonable price and did what would take me days to do in three hours. When I tried that riding mower in Illinois (you must have seen that video), it does jolt your back and with my compressed spine may need to rely on the professionals for mowing. We shall see... Thanks so much!

Poor Kaye that is a lot of stuff to sort... I've been in my place about 9 months and my guest room still has boxes stacked and now it's becoming the catch all room I have got to get in there and get things organized. I admire people that don't have trouble throwing things away I'm not a hoarder by any means but I hate throwing good stuff away and I'm unorganized. I try but I always seem to have one corner with stuff piled up that rarely gets used but I can't part with it.

It took me 6 weeks to move from PA to NYC. It’s a daunting job. I had two storage units full of things, n lost 95% of them. I was soooo happy to move, it’s just a HUGE JOB. My best friend asked if I’d ever consider moving to another state again. I have much less stuff now, but still - I don’t have the physical or emotional energy to move. I did all my packing myself, with the help of an old family friend. I cried letting go of things as I moved. I bawled after I lost the storage units. Awwww linden is a stunning sacred precious cottony love! I understand why u feel so devastated. I’ve also had experiences where we’ve requested folks to help us clean/move things - they promised us that things would b done gently as we had wished. In reality, it turned out quite the opposite. Here’s sending some love and light your way to help you get things together and have the strength to deal with it! It can b a rough go. It’s a gorgeous home though! Is it an older one? It looks to be!
