They didn’t fight the suits to get it approved, it wasn’t that hard, the suits had legit concerns. The mode was being made without authorization and WAWs development was not very smooth plus COD at that point was known for its historical accuracy, not zombies

A huge variable you missed is the push back you get when firing the raygun in earlier CODs. This was actually a really big deal because if you were someone that liked to do glitches, like the famous "jump-crouch under the grenades-wall-buy on the 2nd floor of nact", you'd often have to sit in a very specific spot in order for the glitch to work but every time you fired the raygun it would push you backward potentially moving you out of your glitch spot.

My god man you unlocked a memory harking back to the accidental early Mark 2 release I remember hearing about it being in the game. I vividly remember, recording a video on my tablet, with my squeaky 12 year old voice, "Look what I gottt!" As I resume the theatre clip, pulling the pack a punched Mark 2 from the Mob of the Dead pack a punch. Was super excited to show all my friends. Tragically that video is now lost to time, died with my old facebook account, but man, I remember it like it was yesterday

The Ray Gun was almost like an idol within my old friend circle for Zombies Survival CoD. My friends and I would always yell "I GOT A RAY GUN! I GOT A RAY GUN!" each time we rolled one. We sort of saw it as a higher being, higher power than anything else in the game, and as explained we went wild for each time we saw one in game. Definitely a benchmark for me at least for my early gaming days.

My one complaint about the Mk. 2 is just the fact that it eats through ammo insanely quickly. I still love it and think it's a lot better than the base Ray Gun though.

@@pluto3194 atleast it doesn't really lose any damage at all when shooting through multiple zombies so the best use of the ammo is when you have a lot of zombies lined up on higher rounds as opposed to wasting 1 or 2 bullets to kill individual zombies because of the 3 round burst

I'm not even trying to be mean, but that's a mistake. If you want to try playing, on Xbox the Black ops 3 Zombie Chronicles edition has 9 maps for 20-60 dollars (Depending if it is on sale or not) and is the best value on the best zombies engine

Favorite Ray Gun look has to be the one from Black Ops 2 Buried. Love the colors on it. As for favorite to use, I’d say Cold War but I’ve literally only gotten it twice out of the countless hours I’ve spent in CW’s zombies. So Black Ops 1 is probably my favorite in that regard. Mark 2 is the GOAT tho Excellent video as always!

The ray gun singlehandedly lead to more deaths than any zombie or boss ever could have. I remember staying up late back in 2013 when I first got WaW trying to get to the highest round, and I found an ally in the ray gun when I first got it from the mystery box in Nacht. I was betrayed by the splash damage and flashy looks, and ultimately killed myself about 20 rounds in.

Great video. There was some stuff you pointed out that I didn't even know about on the cold war version. I had no idea about the battery glitch when inspecting it. I think a good one to do would be for the M16. It's been in a lot of CoD games so there's definitely some history to it.

To me the Original Black Ops Raygun good however Ascension introducing PHD Flopper to survive the splash damage from the gun was a godsend. So any map with PHD Flopper with the Ray Gun is a good time. But I do like the green color scheme it makes a lot more sense though maybe the blue is Element 115 since the gun is made by Group 935 and most of the stuff is powered by that Element. Also i love the Ray Gun Mark II, however the absolute best is Black Ops Cold War is the best

So something I wanna recommend for those who have VR is game called PavlovVr. A very fun vr shooter that works like Counterstrike, but more specifically for the workshop where people have made cod zombies maps and gamemode in its engine, with that it includes various versions of the raygun. It's genuinely a cool thing to hold it and fire it at a horde with your own hands.

In terms of gameplay and utility, the BO:CW's Ray Gun is definitely my favorite. In comparison to all the other wonder weapons up until that point (except the Jet Gun, fuck that thing), it was a peashooter. Even after the nerf, the CW Ray Gun is top-tier. If we're going by nostalgia though.. the WaW Ray Gun definitely takes my vote.
