If i also recall, they were also the only species that had a positive relationship with humans as business partners and traders before the Covenant ordered them to go full crusade on humanity. it makes more sense for when the enemies call each other by their slang names in reference to their species, instead of their native names (Kig-yar to Jackal, Unggoy to Grunt, etc.) which would be strange if we consider the humans to be the ones to give them those names during the war unless they all just adopted the names over time.

A fun fact about Halo Wars is that it's one of the few games with a Jackel can wield a Carbine or Beam Rifle with a shield. And it's the only one where they do it without weapon swapping from the player. Jackels really had the craziest history with how much they were changed between each game and how many highs and lows they had. The Infinite design is amazing while the Bungie designs will always remain in my heart. And I'll always love the Jackels when we hear them speak our language, which, if I remember correctly, Jackels can't pronounce the letter F, which if you listen to them speak, none of their lines have an F in it. A little fun fact there about the Jackels and how they speak.

Honestly the 4-5 subspecies argument makes sense with the Jackals because in the Bungie games they had the most redesigns out of any of the species. The jackals and Skirmishers all felt like they all could have evolved from an ancestor. Elites/Grunts/Drones all felt like totally redesigns for the sake of them. The only thing I could change about them is to make their heads smaller. To be around the same proportion as the previous jackals
@LateNightHaloАй бұрын
The issue with the “subspecies” argument is that it’s scientifically incorrect. The h4 and 5 jackals can’t be a “subspecies” due to the morphological differences. They have to be a different species.
@JohnWilliams-wl9pxАй бұрын
@@LateNightHalo I know the subspecies argument only was made to justify the radical redesigns. The term subspecies in fiction is used very loosely. Even scientifically they aren’t actually related, I can buy these 4-5 share an ancestor with the other designs of the Jackal. And why people in universe would just loop them together. Which mirror our own world were people flat out would group animals together based of similar traits, despite that fact we found out later the animal aren’t related. Can’t say the same for Elite and Grunts.

I always preferred the Jackals speaking in something I couldn't understand, although it's funny to hear my enemies panic when I stick them with a grenade or their taunts if I die. There was just something cathartic about hearing the wild barks and squaks of the Jackals as they chatter to one another in formation, like the Hunters growling as they try to corner you. Made the Covenant feel like an alien army, and that languages for even their own can very despite them all being in the same military

it felt like I was the only one who genuinely prefers the Jackals not speaking English.
