I only discovered the musical theatre world when I started watching the Tony Awards a few years ago. Everytime she shows up she got an standing ovation just for BEING there, so I got she's a theatre goddess. So now I'm pleasantly surprised of how vulnerable she is. A normal, fun person. She should do more TV and movies!

I saw that production too, with Michael Cerveris and a stripped-down cast playing all the instruments. We knew we would be visiting New York from the west coast of Canada and my husband got me tickets as a birthday/Christmas gift. It was brilliant!
@MS-ss1dv3 жыл бұрын
@@barbararoden2757 Yes! Michael Cerveris. What a wonderful story. Sweeney Todd is far from my favorite musical but my ex loved it so I got him tickets for Christmas. I’m in NY and have seen a lot of theater (grateful) and this stands out as one of the best. I think because it was so pared down. The performances stood on their own!

Somewhat shameful that "A Closer Look" is still stuck on that insane four-year period that Ms. Lapone has endured through (for whatever reason, Seth steers clear of other topics like the Amber Heard - Johnny Depp feud and the 'Markles' and their fights against the media and parts of the public. My surmise is that he will not cover the serious allegations against Chris Noth when he returns on the first week of next month).

Good grief, did she really need to use the F word so many times when filming in her basement that she hadda get bleeped?…No class at all. Even though I know there is much more to her, in the basement clip, she came off as an attention-starved spasmodic rather than an a polished professional who was anxious to reconnect with an audience. (BTW, in some of the more “crushing” notes from Sondheim to which she referred….he was actually being diplomatic and kind!!!)
