In this video, we break down how to assess both the superficial and deep layers of the lateral hip, specifically looking for signs of bursitis and tendinopathy. We go over the key structures around the greater trochanter, such as the glute minimus and medius, and how they relate to the bursal plane. A dynamic test is demonstrated to help spot any fluid accumulation. While bursitis in the lateral hip isn’t as common as people might think, it’s still something to look for when doing ultrasound assessments.
