Great vid and great rant! I too have discovered Warehouse speakers. I bought my Fuchs Feiten cab from Haar Guitars unloaded and on their recommendation I had them install 2 x Explorer 65’s. Can’t fault them

There is that thing with 50's wiring; tone capacitor in the volume pot's input with the pickup or the output log to the switch or jack respectively of guitar. There are also no-load tone pots.

Thanks. I’ve continued trying and this Cabronita is one tricky customer. Everything I do either gives me a decent sweep on (some) pots OR reasonable treble as I wind volume back. No permutation so far gives me the both I seek. But I think persisting with vintage configurations will eventually yield results. Hopefully. Thanks for watching 👍

Man, everything you speak about are the same things I’ve been dealing with. First the neck pocket trick on bolt on guitars and now this. I’ve experimented so much with different value capacitors and resistors and series/parallel treble bleed circuits it’s not funny. My latest strat build has a volume pot that has driven me insane. The usual values and parallel treble bleed circuit doesn’t behave the same way on it and the taper is awful. 1-8 or maybe close to 9 is so quiet and then 8.5 or so to 10 is wide open it seems. Unusable. I’ve tried a couple things but just ordered a linear pot that I am trying next. Everyone says not to do linear but I’m going to try it and see what happens. These have all been CTS pots with supposed close tolerances and such too. Also interestingly, RS Guitarworks is a short drive from me of less than an hour and Stewmac in the next state north of me lol. I keep them busy but my journey never ends.

Well it’s good to know it’s not just me. After recording this video, I thought I’d give a few more of the pots a go. All rubbish, sadly, but an amp maker friend of mine has pointed me in another direction so I remain hopeful. Good luck with your builds and mods.

Bob, have you tried Duesenberg pots? I recently put some in a Mario Martin and they worked much better than the custom pots that were in it.

No, didn’t know they did them, so thanks. Trouble is, I’ve already spent so much on pricey, useless crap that I’m loathe to drop yet more on spec.
