Homeowner insurance rates in Colorado are skyrocketing because of the amount of new construction being built with zero regard for hazards here, and thanks to canvassers who are talking homeowners into making claims on minor repairs that are causing the number of claims to increase. Colorado has a greater recipe for disaster than California due to the drier and inherently volatile climate here and entirely fire-dependent ecology from the plains to the forests to the deserts. Don't want wildfires, hurricane-force winds mixed with fire, tornadoes, snow storms, and intense flooding? Move to the midwest, east coast, or south. The interior West is the continent's mecca for natural hazards -- how do you think those mountains and canyons got there in the first place?
