Michigan State and the entire Big Ten is mediocre. Yes, if they get in every year to the CFP 4 team playoff, statistically they can win. Same for college basketball. Putting 9 teams in year-after-year, there will be a Final Four and maybe NT team. But take away the conference moniker and if Gonzaga had just lost to either Minnesota or OSU (nevermind losing to *both*), these talking heads would be throwing out massive amounts of analytics about why that takes them out of the field. Pick one: (1) the Big Ten teams, even if they lose 1st or 2nd round like Purdue, simply make more money in advertising for CBS and therefore are always overrated, or (2) its an analytics driven meritocracy and maybe only 4 Big Ten teams this year deserve to get into the tourney.
