It is speculated he might have been mixed up with another plane just took off and pilot of that plane witnessed the explosion and asked ATC if he saw it.

But what you don't realize is that ATC did not advise the Blackhawk pilot that there were two Airliners in their line of path . That one aircraft is taking off from the runway in the distance ahead of them, and another is about to land on runway 33 within the vicinity of the Blackhawks path . No warning systems for either aircraft nor for ATC was active to either of the 3 to warn of a collision course . No one noticed, and I believe the blackhawk pilots tried to pull up as fast as they could, but it was too late. Like someone running a red light at 130 mph as another vehicle has already entered the intersection who had the green light and never seen it coming, and it was a fatal tragedy .

Heard earlier, there is a shortage in tower workers. And very experienced tower workers are needed at such busy airports like this. Meaning people with 10-15 years of experience. The fact that they only had one in the tower that night, is very concerning. I do wonder what level of experience they had, especially that he was on his own. Also heard that there was a last minute runway change requested, I believe by the pilot. Adding everything else in, like the helicopter being at same altitude as the plane, is also very concerning. Was their a malfunction of equipment, or was the fact that they had night vision goggles on, maybe they had reduced peripheral view etc and a false sense of clearance, thinking the plane taking off was the plane the tower warned them of. You’d think the tower warning would be more specific, like incoming or outgoing..I feel like this was a combination of things going wrong, at the same time. Imo Whatever the case, it’s so very sad 🙏🕊️💔

But trump put a freeze on all new hiring and disbanded the aviation safety board. It is worth noting that he did not rescind existing DEI in his first term, and that there were NO air crashes of passenger planes during Bidens' term. And all pilots and ATCs have to pass the same stringent health and competency requirements regardless of DEI. And yes, it is very sad that so many lives were lost, and shameful that trump chose to use it for political capital with reckless and dishonest speculation.

I doubt it, the ATC transmissions were very clear. The helicopter said they had the CRJ in sight and they accepted visual flight rules, it’s right there in the recording. ATC is clear. I went to fox news and all everyone is asking if why helicopter not see the plane. They think that all flights can just fly however they like. They can change path anyhow they want. If that's the case, all flights will collide to everybody. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. The control center seemed to be failing to calculate the safe path and failing to redirect helicopter or the plane to avoid collision at that minute or not enough time. Seems like incompetence in the control center since the pilots are very experienced

I suspect we’ll know more about their total flight hours in the coming days, but the training wasn’t like a new enlisted training. They tend to do those out in the desert as flying in demanding airspace in a populated city isn’t exactly where you train newbies.

Then to be attacked on social media by the president before anyone even knew who he was and when there was absolutely no way to know when these accusations started whether the controller themselves was part of any “woke” policies. All this made me think how vulnerable we are if a enemy could hack our banks, phones ,schools ect. They probly would have capabilities to hack this stuff just sayin !!!!

At such a busy airport too! I blame cost cutting, just like with every industry now, less staffed is everywhere! In hospital, since pandemic, I remember roommate (nurse) complaining that they understaffed and he had to take care of 20 patients in his night shift where before normal standard for them was 5 patients. That’s 4 times more! And he’s told me horror stories where he almost lost his patient when he couldn’t locate the respiratory therapist in charge of the patient anywhere in the building (they are supposed to all be wearing a tracking device to shore where they are but it didn’t show RT anywhere inside the hospital (RT May have been taking nap in parking lot during night shift)

As I understand it, the ATCs there were working 6 days a week of 10 hour shifts; there was likely no-one left to call in.
