I don't think it's that deep. His agent must've told him to say these. Even the reporter moved on from the question after his answer and didn't ask any follow-up questions. I think its much closer than what everyone thinks it is right now.

One possibility that I see hardly anyone exploring, maybe FSG and the club are just negotiating for the sake of it whilst looking for a replacement for Salah on the side. I don't know anyone can replace him atm but this very well could be their plan. If they get their replacement I won't be surprised if they let Salah go. This could just be a waiting game they are playing. I wouldn't put it past FSG.
