I hope JJ doesn't start all year! It works for the dreaded packers. Vikings win at least 9

Nothing of any substance is going to happen ..Rich McKay Atlanta president And ceo is on the competition committee that determine the punishment for tampering... So no significant consequence.is going to happen..😮😮

Hunter Renfro would be a good pickup. Third down possession receiver. He is sneaky-good like Thielen…

I think you guys are way under-estimating Darnold. Just remember how much KOC was able to get out of Mullens and Dobbs, and consider that Darnold has a stronger and more accurate arm than Mullens, and runs as well as Dobbs. Darnold had more hype and ability when he was drafted than JJ has, but he found it tough going early as a young player in a bad situation. Kwesi is on record saying that they won't repeat that mistake. JJ is a long term investment and I doubt they will put him out there until he is ready, which might be late in the season if things go pear shaped, or might not be until 2025, if things go well. Darnold made a lot of progress at the Panthers, and last season ran the 49ers offence very efficiently in his two opportunities. Darnold at 26, has a similar record and better tools than Kirk did when he arrived at Minnesota. Darnold could easily keep JJ on the bench all season, especially with Flores' rebuilt bespoke defence and a division in transition.

This isn’t a surprise to me that Atlanta has a peep on the rules committee. During the 60’s and 70’s The Dallas Cowboys had some of their ownership on the rules committee. So you can imagine when some of us kept hearing the new phrase “America’s team” how much we grew to hate The Cowboys. Let’s just say when a team has their ownership on the rules committee you can pass rules that are/were more favorable to your franchise. The NFL is more than likely crooked so don’t expect them to be fair.

The league might have to act on the tampering because of the Saquon issue as well. They approved a pick swap between the Cards and Eagles last year - so the precedent is there. Re the potential for pick swaps as part of the tampering arbitration - how can the Vikes do "mid round pick swaps" - they have none. I'm pretty sure they can't trade Comp picks until they've been awarded. Kwesi may be playing 3D chess here using his 2024 day 2 and early day 3 picks this year. That would force the Falcons to accept much later picks or future picks in any potential swap.

The precedent is, but isn’t there. Minnesota didn’t offer Kirk a deal during the FA period, only one throw-away offer first. All the other offers came during a period of other offers being fielded. From what it sounds like Atlanta will be stripped a pick and Minnesota won’t get anything

Don’t anyone be shocked if Darnold gets hurt at all this year, no matter what week, that Mullens goes in the game or gets some starts. Just sayin

Kirk Cousins had not been in the scheme 3 years - wtf are you talking about. Kirk went 13-4 in 2022 in his first year in KOCs scheme. If anything Darnold has a head start on Kirk, after a year with Shanahan, with the bonus of being younger and much more athletic than Kirk.

NFL Live is picking the Vikings last in the NFC North at 6-11. With the Vikings adding talented players to their defense and their playmakers on offense id say NFL Live is full of shit. No matter who's playing quarterback I see this being at least a 8-9 to 9-8 season. I mean come on Nick Mullens had a 400 yd passing game with Justin Jefferson on the playing field and adding Jones in the back field. Yeah everyone's talking about the Vikings schedule but all the NFC North teams are playing similar teams. With all the NFC North quarterbacks the one quarterback that is not mobile is Jared Goff that could be a problem when they play the Vikings.

Agree, also ppl forget beside a solid RB ( yes aging) Jones is an above avg receiver out of the backfield

Yes. I think there is some very flawed thinking going on around the league. Consider these factors. 1. Thought experiment - If Love or Goff had gone down mid season how many games would they have won? I suggest none. 2. Is everyone over-estimating the Lions on one good season, which they finished very unconvincingly? Beaten by the Packers at home, highly improbable escape from the Bears at home, thrashed by the Bears at Soldier, two bumbling wins over Nick Mullens. Squeaked out a win over the Rams at home. Lost to the 49ers (who the Vikes beat without Jettas). The Lions hit the entire division in transition - Love emerging, Fields on trial, Cousins & JJ injured and Flores creating a defence largely with inherited players. 3. Are folks over estimating Love? The Packers 'strong finish' to the season over a struggling Bears, undermanned Vikes, and on the back of 5 consecutive 100 yard games by Aaron Jones. Yes they have added Jacobs, but it's still an assumption that he will carry on where AJ left off. 4. Is everyone underestimating Darnold? When Kirk arrived at the Vikes he was 26-30 with Washington, was 30 years old, and didn't really win over the fan base until the 13-4 season under KOC, and his promising start to the 2023 season. Darnold's only 26, and his recent record is 8-9 with the questionable Panthers roster, and two appearances for the 49ers in place of Purdy. In the first he came on trailing by 20 in the 4th quarter, and immediately marched them up the field for a TD. In his other drive he had a desperation pass intercepted in the redzone - better than a check down on 4th and 8... In his other 2023 start, the back up game vs the Rams in week 18 - he moved the offence very efficiently but was let down by the Kicker, Defence, and LT (who got beaten several times by Vikes new FA - Jonah Williams). Darnold throws at least as well as Mullens and runs as well as Dobbs, and has thrown a much lower proportion of INTs over the last 3 seasons than his first 3. There is no reason that he won't prosper under KOC. like he did under Shanahan, and like Cousins did. 5. Flores now has his bespoke defence. Flores has almost completely swapped out his roster, presumably for the kind of players he wants to run his scheme. I loved Hunter, and like Wonnum, but Greenard, AVG and Turner look a much quicker, more formidable and stronger rotation. Even Jihad Ward and others look stronger depth. I'm not sure that Jones II will make the roster this season and he played 56% of defensive snaps last season. Also last season we saw Byron Murphy try to cover Keenan Allen, and last minute TDs by tall WRs like Courtland Sutton and Tee Higgins. Khyree Jackson and or Dwight McGlothern might be viable antidotes to that vulnerability that the Vikes had to long WRs last season. I can see the Vikes Edge rush causing major problems for the slower aging QBs (and questionable O Lines) on the schedule - like Cousins*, Rodgers*, Goff, Stafford, Geno Smith, Daniel Jones*, (all post major injury), and Flores' scheme confusing the many younger QBs on this season's schedule - Stroud, Love, Williams, Richardson, Levis, Lawrence. Remember the Pats D under Belichick (and Flores) was renowned for destroying rookie QBs, no matter what the reputation. 6. I can't see the Vikes finishing anywhere near 4th. In fact, I don't see Darnold losing enough games for JJ to even get a sniff of a start this season. I could easily see them start 4-1, and sweep the run of young AFC South QBs, and at least splitting the division games - which would put them well in the division title conversation. Skol!
