Italian phonology has developed in similar way like Pali in medieval India. Consonant endings and clusters in Latin and Sanskrit (Vedic) are mute (ending with vowels) or simplified, e.g. pt > tt, ct > tt LATIN > ITALIAN 6 = sex > sei 7 = septem > sette 8 = octo > otto 9 = novem > nove 10 = decem > dieci SANSKRIT > PALI 6 = šaš > cha 7 = saptan > satta 8 = ašta > attha 9 = navan > nava 10 = daśan > dasa

Latin is supposed to be spoken with an Italian accent to get as close as possible to the original. Unfortunately in most of KZbin videos it's spoken by people which are not Italian native speakers. That's why they usually sound unnatural.

Some of these for Latin are using either the accusative or maybe an older form of the word. Why was this done? To show off more similarities? Words like mulier and uxor weren't even shown for "woman" yet domina was Also noticed "caballum" is used in Latin in this video, but that's medieval Latin. Classical Latin is equus

One correction I would like to make is that "domina" does not directly mean "woman" as "dominus" does not translate to "man". Domina is the nominative singular for "mistress", which is synonymous, however does not mean "woman".

Yes. Ignis is fire. I once read about Focus being a place in houses were fire was set. So I'm not sure if Focus was meant to be fire per se. It would be also the origin for the word equally spelled in english, "focus".

The language of culture was latin at the time and Dante Alighieri thought the vulgar languages of Italy had their own dignity e he wrote a book called "the vulagarii eloquentia", in which he explained the importance of vulgar languages (vulgar = of the people). For his masterpiece the Divine Comedy Dante used the new italian language based on florentine with some word borrowed from other languages in the peninsula. Sorry for my english😅

Yeah it's weird, apparently it was late latin: Latte, From Late Latin lactem, from Classical lac n, from earlier lact, reformed based on the oblique stem lact-. Uncertain etymology; see lac (“milk”). The accusative lactem is attested as early as Petronius (where it is a satirized 'vulgar' form), and the nominative lactis is found in late antiquity.[1]

It would be best to use the Ecclesiastical Latin pronunciation, as it is closer to Italian. Hearing the Lord's Prayer in a non-Ecclesiastical pronunciation is disorienting.
