I am so excited to be starting off the new year with a bang: ENCANTO! This lovely animated film was such a joy to watch. I had no idea that it was based off Colombia and latino culture, and as a central american woman myself, I thoroughly connected to so many characters and circumstances. It was lovely to see aspects of my childhood and culture in a film so well done and so universal with such a lovely message and wonderful music. Music even got me dancing at one point! So I hope you all enjoy this reaction, I share a bit more about my own personal experiences as a latina immigrant and it truly was so much fun! Enjoy and Happy New Year!!

In regards to the family valuing their reputation or trying to keep up appearances, I think a lot of people don't fully realize just how recently this village was created and how new the gifts are. The encanto was created when Pedro died, the people who live there are those who escaped the village with them and were saved by the miracle as well. It's only been around for 50 years, 45 of that with the family gifts. Anyone Abuela's age or even a few years older than the triplets would have been there, fleeing from the dangers and witnessing Pedro's sacrifice and the creation of the encanto. I think the concern over their reputation is less about upholding the family name and more about being a symbol of security and hope for the encanto. The miracle saved the community, the gifts help the community. The characters talk about everyone getting anxious when the gifts start fading, but it's not because they'll have to herd their own donkeys, but because many of them probably have the same fears as Abuela of outside threats.

To be a beacon and symbol of security for a village of non-gifted people that escaped being massacred, that is quite the burden to bare. Very true and even more understanding of the immense pressure and stress Abuela must have endured for so many years. AND ALONE AT THAT! Of course, she had her family but losing the love of her life and now having such an immense responsibility while having experienced such trauma is going to be difficult for anyone. Then you're acting out of fear due to stress, duty, responsibility, that can be a breeding ground for very toxic behavior. But nevertheless, I think the movie beautiful shows how one can heal and come together in the spirit of family, community, and forgiveness. I truly appreciate your insightful comment. Yes, exactly. People talk about the movie being about intergenerational trauma a lot, but most act like this is just about Alma and her family. No, it's the whole village. A village made out of displaced traumatized people who lost their homes, some who were injured and/or lost their loved ones. That's the environment of fear and uncertainty that Pepa, Bruno and Julieta grew up in. They've probably been hearing all these awful tales since they were very young. The trauma was still fresh on people's minds. It's no wonder that one 5 year old ended up developing the power to heal and other to see into the future. It also makes a bit more sense to why people started to resent Bruno, traumatized ppl do not take well to bad news 😬. And Abuela, she didn't just have to raise her children, she had to "raise" the whole town. She had to be the one who always stays strong and keeps things under control or else everyone would fall into a panic.

Haven't gotten through all the comments... has anyone mentioned how Isabela looks a lot like Abuela Alma did when she was young, which is probably one reason why she is the "favorite" grandchild? And how Mariano resembles Abuelo Pedro? In the engagement, Abuela wanted the next generation to have the life she didn't get to have-- as well as sort of living vicariously through her granddaughter.

Ngl, when I first saw Mariano after seeing the portrait of Abeula Pedro, I mistakenly thought that Abeula wanted Mariano in the family so much that she had already put up a painting of him in the house. I realized I was wrong later in the movie lol.

I really like how they tell the Disney version of Abuelo Pedro but when Mirabel sees how actually horrific his death was, she begins to see her Abuela not as someone hurting her, but as someone hurting. It also shows how death is glossed over. In the first story he just vanishes and Abuela is a bit sad. But then you see how he dies and Abuela screaming in horror, shock and pain; and sitting catatonic in her room that mirrored her old one with Pedro, because she can’t let go.

A woman with three babies who never knew their father - she never told them the true story. Abuela lived alone with her grief thinking she was protecting her family from that trauma, when it leaked out of her every protective impulse.

i cannot believe how much i see my family in this movie, i see my grandmother in abuela so much, like she saw her husband die IN front of her to raising 3-5 kids all alone, to having the generational trauma eventually be projected on to us, her grand children as toxic tropes and racial biases. that's why i can't bring myself to see abuela as a villan.

I absolutely adore that while we see the explanation and get to understand why Abuela is the way she is, that's not all there is to her redemption. It's that she recognizes how her choices and her trauma led to the second collapse, and her apology to Mirabel, and her efforts to change. The movie doesn't gloss over the fact that she hurt her family badly because she has a tragic backstory. It doesn't say that how Abuela treated her family was okay after all because she was in pain. It does say that realizing the pain made it easier to understand, and with understanding and Abuela's genuine regret and effort to change, her family could forgive her and help her rebuild Casita and the family back better and stronger. Abuela isn't a villain. The only villains in this story are the soldiers or guerillas that forced Alma and Pedro and the rest of the townspeople to flee their homes, and killed Pedro - and even they're more plot device than active villain. There doesn't always have to be evil for bad things to happen to people, or for families to crack, and I think that's a brilliant and important message for people to hear.

I’ve seen a lot of people saying that Abuela apologizing & actively trying to be better in the end is “unrealistic”, but I’d like to point out that Abuela had just lost everything for the second time in her life, and it’s not like she did a public apology, it was just between her & Mirabel. Also just because you haven’t experienced it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

@hasslfoot that's completely understandable. even though this movie wasn't made for people like me, I can easily put myself in Mirabel's shoes, and unfortunately my family isn't quite as deserving of forgiveness or as willing to change as hers. but personally, I think that if this story gives a family broken by generational trauma out there somewhere--who would otherwise force kids to become estranged and pick up the pieces on their own--the motivation to fix things and the hope of becoming a happy loving family, it's completely worth the unrealistic approach. yes, we definitely need to see more stories about kids learning that they *don't* have to forgive their family/guardian(s) (beyond Tangled). but honestly I'd rather there be fewer kids out there who have to endure the pain of a family that's not willing to change, and showing those kids a new way forward is going to help so many families become better.

@@skullaby8341 Exactly. And I think it did a good job showing that yeah, Abuela was putting too much pressure on them, there's still a place for the kids to recognize WHY. I feel like if Mirabel hadn't extended that understanding..."Abuela, I see now, you've been through so much, and you lost everything and you were just trying to keep us protected."...that more realistically Abuela might have been less forgiving and reacted defensively. "Well you just don't understand what I went through and what I've gone through for this family." But since she did, it at least opened the door to Abuela being like "You know what, maybe you're right. We're safe. Maybe I've been overreacting and I need to chill." Okay, paraphrased obviously. :D But I think in real life, you'd see more people reacting defensively and not with that understanding. And I do agree that we need more stories like this that are resolved with understanding and love all around. :)

I think I heard Isabella singing "I'll be fine." and Dolores singing "I'm fine.", cause Dolores is upset about Mariano marrying someone else, but has to pretend she doesn't care, while Isabella doesn't want to marry him, but feels like she has to.

Actually it's just a modulation of her earlier phrase. "Like the grapes on a vine, one a vine, on a viiiiine." If you watch the official clip with subtitles it makes this slightly more obvious by subtitling her earlier line.

Every young Latine person I've seen on social media is legitimately using Encanto to address generational family traumas and I am loving it. Hell, Lin-Manuel said he wrote Surface Pressure (Luisa's song) as an apology to his older sister. This movie is everything.

Even as a non-Latine person, my sister and I have used this movie to discuss our very different experiences growing up with the same parents. I’m the younger sister, and had considerable health issues from birth. My sister felt pressure to be perfect, because I wasn’t. I posted on Facebook “sometimes being little sister means feeling like Mirabel, thinking your big sister is a combination of Isabela and Luisa, then growing up to realize how much pressure she was under all along to be perfect.” My sister messaged me: “hi, have you been hiding in my therapy sessions?” Much like Inside/Out has been useful in helping kids verbalize their emotions, and express how depression feels, I feel like this film will be really helpful in teaching kids to express their place in a family or their emotional needs.

Mirabel didn't receive a gift because she is the gift. The door disappeared because the house is her "room," hence the doorknob at the end with the M on it (it could have stood for Madrigal though), and i believe she's different from her family because she's next in line as the next patriarch of the family after her grandmother who also doesnt have a special gift but both share a bond with the house, This is just my thoughts on it though

I agree, I think Mirabel's gift is that she is the one who is 'closest' to the house. The magic starts to falter when Mirabel is excluded and it comes back when she reconciles with Isabela and her grandma. It's almost like the magic is using Mirabel to show abuela what she discovers at the end of the movie - who the miracle is really for

I can say with confidence that this might be Disney's best movie so far, if not top 3. We don't have your typical "good versus evil" archetype that every fictional story follows, instead we have a beautiful story that can be applied literally in every household in every society. Take the magic away and it's still as strong. I see therapists reacting and analysing this movie and they all identify every different "family troop", and it's really fitting.

I also like the symbolism of the black shawl Abuela always seems to be wearing through out most of the movie, shes been in mourning/grieving ever since her husband died. I think its a hint of how much she tries to be strong herself for not only her family but the village itself, but shes hurting inside as well.

Pedro's memory, in a literal sense, protected her and the children early on and drove them to survive, but became a shackle later on that prevented the family from growing naturally. Really, the mountains, the house, her shawl, and the candle and miracle itself are all tied to the same metaphor - a cocoon that can protect and sustain, but must be cracked open eventually to move on. You can even see Pedro's spirit (as butterflies) embracing them one more time before flying out and parting ways.

In the concept art, and in the Art Of Encanto book, you can see the Luisa’s room is made of stone because she’s supposed the be the strong one. But, only known to her, there is a secret door that leads to an amusement park where she can finally be a kid. OW😭😭

The thing that gets me is the foreshadowing of how much she *hates* the life she is forced to live. Her shock when she hears Mariano wants to have five children. And the one that made me pause and recontextualise everything Isabela while watching the movie: In We Don't Talk About Bruno, she drops in singing about how he told her that she'd have her perfect life. Why in a song about all the misery Bruno's predictions inflicts? Is she here to say that Bruno was fine? No. She drops in to say that Bruno told her that she'd be forever trapped in this gilded cage.

@@XCC23 It occurs to me from your post that "He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine..." never says whether her dreams are good or bad. She can't envision a different future, so her dreams have her just as trapped as her reality. My speculation is that Bruno had no predictions, or no reliable predictions after the destruction of the house (until it was remade). So all of the predictions were pre-break and restoration (hence Dolores' love out of reach). So I agree with you - who promised that terrible dream? Abuela.

Bruno couldn't confront reality in a healthy way so he invented Hernando who's scared of nothing, and Jorge who makes the spackle has a voice more like automated, and without a visible face as if the intention was to hide the feeling in order to do what is necesary. This speaks of Bruno's deep feelings of shame disguised with humor.

Everyone talks about Dolores not being able to keep a secret for just a few hours but let's be fair to her she hears EVERYTHING. Imagine hearing every secret in your entire town and have to not tell anyone. And she can keep some secrets like Bruno never leaving because she knows the consequences if that secret got out. Also I believe Mirabel never got a door because the casita chose her to be the next matriarch of the family so in a sense Abuelas door will become Mirabel's door.

I totally agree! I love the idea that Mirabel didn't get a door because she is stepping into Abuela's role as the matriach of the family. Her door is the front door of the casita. She is the one who makes everyone feel welcome and safe inside. She is the glue of the family.

I didn't see anyone mention this (can't read or translate most of the Spanish comments so I may have missed one) but the event that caused them to flee their village was based off the Thousand Days war, which as a middle American raised person I had never even heard of before this. The featurettes and interviews have a lot of info about stuff that's basically meta. They did SO MUCH research for this movie.

@@bellsthesultana Sadly we don't learn about a lot of history outside the US unless it deals directly with something that happened in the US. Even then, we might not learn the whole story. There's a ton of history that happened in the US that we're still fighting to get taught. Honestly, I feel like I pretty much just learned about ancient Egypt, ancient Greece, Europe in the 1700s, then US history and world wars. For most other countries, mostly just learned about colonialism and that at some point in the 1900s, most South American and African countries had wars to free themselves from colonialism. Also pretty sure I learned next to nothing about the Eastern world.

Its kind of surprising how few people I've talked to actively realized that at the end Abuela Alma was happy to see Bruno again because he's her SON, not just "Tio Bruno from the song". Its a little sad how so many people watching sort of skipped over the fact that its not just Bruno coming home to a family he loves and has been yearning for but a mother getting her son back and 2 sisters getting their brother back. My son is about 9. When I sat down to watch the movie with him he kind of gave a funny look when Abuela hugged Bruno and he said "Brunito?" I told him it was (more or less) Spanish for "little Bruno". He looked confused for a second, and I said "you know, that's his mommy. He's still her baby." He said "oh." The song really built Bruno up to be something sinister, and then even when he was just a good weird guy his power is frankly awe-inspiring, but also the way Abuela talks about him when she finally does is with so much hurt that it was probably hard for him to connect them as people who love each other. Between that and the fact that we have a small family we live far away from, I'm not sure he picked up on the mother-son relationship there with so many other people in the mix. As a mom though, it was hard for me not to feel that homecoming. I can't imagine being so mad at my son that I wouldn't be happy and relieved to see him come home.

I watched this with my family and after "surface pressure", I was fighting tears. Unexpectedly, my little sister hugged me as if she knew about everything I'm carrying MY HEART-- I never expected to relate so much to a Disney character after Mulan, but Isabella's, Luisa's, and Mirabel's characters are definitely, very heart-wrenchingly relatable to me. It's one of the best family movies out there. After the movie, I didn't talk at all and just cried in my room. It's been a while, but your reactions cheered me up and I so love love LOVEEE the Spanish commentary to this.

'Surface Pressure' is by far the best song and representation of my life as every single year something always happened and my entire family always depended on me to hold up everything yet also blamed me making it difficult for many things to happen in my life. After years of struggling mentally and such there'd be times that I had to separate from all of them not cuz I didn't like them but rather all the negative energy formed was put onto me (who unfortunately absorbs it but unable to release it) and felt that I had to be the one to fix everything yet put my dreams and such on the back burner. However, now I'm trying to get my dreams to come true and be successful for own sake and cousin (may she rest in peace).

You're the first reactor that I saw break down when they sang "we see how bright you burn, we see how brave you've been" to Mirabel and I LOVED YOU FOR THAT. Not a lot of people resonated with it. I see a lot of reactors talk about how they wish the family apologized verbally to Bruno & Mirabel but for me, having the validation that they can finally see Mirabel is enough. It's a step in the right direction. Sometimes, that's all we really need you know. For me that single line hit harder than the whole Surface Pressure (altho that song also makes me wanna cry all day). Anyway. Loved the reaction 😅💖

I absolutely lost it at "the miracle is not some magic that you've got, the miracle is you". Something about that line and the way it is delivered turns me into an emotional mess. In real-world terms to me it sounds like "it's okay if you fail, it's okay if you're not special, it's okay if things aren't the way you want them to be, what matters is that you're here, and that in itself makes you valuable"

@@callmeclariss Disney animated films are never just kids' movies. Especially since so many of them seem to start with the loss of a parent which is incredibly traumatic to children. Bambi lost his mother, Elsa and Anna lost their parents, Dumbo's mother is taken away from him and locked up. And Encanto starts with the death of Pedro, leaving Alma to raise triplet babies by herself. I really like that the writers of these Disney films do not shy away from themes of family heartbreak just because there are children in the viewing audience.

I like that the Abuella had good motives. I feel like had this movie been made even just a couple of decades ago the Abuella would have been motivated by trying to preserve the family's power, status or wealth. But here she acknowledges that she received a miracle and talks about serving her community and working to be worthy of that miracle. It shows that even with the best of intentions, it can be important to acknowledge when you need to rest (Luisa), know what it is that you want to do and what you don't want to do and find a way to do good while not ignoring your own desires (Isabella) and that you can admire those around you and appreciate their strengths without having to put them on a pedestal and while still being able to empathize with them and recognize that there are times when even someone you admire will need your help and they may not even realize it themselves (Mirabela).

I agree, I definitely feel like the pressure was unintentional. Right in the first song you can kind of identify why there are problems when Abuela sings about having to “earn the miracle”. The whole point of a miracle is that it is a freely given blessing, its not something you need to earn or prove you deserve… but because of the situation where the miracle occurred, Abuela mistakenly connected the two. Then she became blind to the pressure she unknowingly put onto others because of the pressure she put onto herself. Her miracle saved her community, and she put so much pressure on herself to make sure that the community always felt safe and protected so they never needed to be afraid of those evils that threatened them again. She had no way of knowing if the raiders would be back if the Encanto was lost. And she never communicated those fears to anyone. That’s why when Mirabel finds out about it all and acknowledges the trauma that comes from that, then Abuela can open up and also see the real life consequences of that fear and the damage it caused her family.

I was an older sister - am, still, in a chaotic household and it took me a while as a teen to realize my job was not to be the "second parent" in the household or to mother my sister, and that it was alright to be an elder sister and still just a child as well...

I made a video with the italian version of Luisa's song using Buffy&Dawn from"Buffy-the Vampire Slayer".There's an ep in particular in which Buffy is crying while having the you-don't-have-to-replace-mom VS well-if-I-don't-do-it-who-will kind of fight with Dawn plus the burden of being the Slayer and always having to fight/ sacrifice herself for the world's safety. On second viewing, you can hear that Abuela's part in the Family Madrigal song is the same melody as Dos Oruguitas. While this doesn't excuse her harsh actions, knowing the full root of her pain provides more understanding.

Great reaction to a great movie, thank you. A minor thing at the end of the movie that I wanted to point out: when Dolores said that she heard Mariano, it's not just a joke about her power. During the movie, we are giving no indication that he's actually a big dumb hunk like Mirabel called him, but there's a good chance that because of his good looks the people of Encanto don't look beyond the surface, don't really listen to what he's saying/don't let him really talk about what he thinks/cares. But Dolores paid attention, listened to him being a good son and a poet, loves him for more than just his physical appearences. Even the minor characters of the movie have layered and an arc, and I think it's neat. Also, love your makeup and your hair.

I was privileged to grow up with a next door neighbor family of a Dominican doctor and his artist wife and their three children, one my age. I'm so happy to be seeing the hispanic renaissance taking shape in the modern US culture. Although I was raised Italian-American I spent far too many hours next door with my latinx friends and I'm so happy that it's coming through. Spanish Lit major in college and study abroad in Chile in the 90s, I'm glad we're finally giving a nod to the hispanoamerican literary schools and styles and motives from magic realism to contemporary latina femenismo. it's insane watching several reactions because I thought that the movie was very clear in the generational trauma, the family bond keeping together the miracle and everything in Luisa's and Isabela's songs, but then watching others who didn't experience that growing up (good for them there's nothing wrong with that) seeing that it took them longer to get it, or they got the gist of it, but didn't really get it, or some who didn't understand it at all. I'm not latino, but I def felt this as a 2nd generation filipino who's lived in a multigenerational household. Thnx for reacting, I thought I was the odd one for a bit immediately getting the emotional undertones and reacting the same way you did to abuela and everyone.

I wonder how many of Bruno's "predictions" where real predictions, and how many where just observations, that when pointed out they just took for a given and didn't bother trying to stop it. If The cousin had took action sooner would her man ever have wanted to propose to Isabella? Or would he have noticed her earlier then the end of the movie? I’m actually the oldest out of my Mom’s kids (I have three younger sisters & 2 younger stepbrothers I live with). So this hit a super close to home. I raised my sisters and my 8 cousins, while I was growing up (early middle school to now. I just turned 21.) I had to grow up faster then others and resulting in me losing most of my childhood. Not only did I have to nurture my younger siblings and cousins before I could even learn to take of just myself, but I had to deal with my grown ups family members issues and battles. On top of that. I had a lot of family burdens that shouldn’t have to be pushed on me as an child/adolescent. That’s why this song had me crying. Especially when she say, “Give it to your sister, it doesn’t hurt her. See if she handle every family burden.” & “Give it to your sister and never wonder. If the same pressure would pull you under.” So this movie is so very dear to my heart. I cried most almost all of it, cause I saw myself in a lot of the characters. Encanto is so good and so beautiful. I needed this sm.

I’ve seen a lot people say that the reason Mirabel doesn’t get a gift is because she’ll be the keeper of the miracle after her grandmother passes and that she’ll be the new person in charge. The miracle/candle needs someone to keep the magic alive and that job will pass on to Mirabel :)

I really enjoyed your reaction to this. The commentary, the history you gave, the Spanish, the dancing. All of it, phenomenal. This movie has been on my mind a lot and your reaction has got to be my absolute favorite so far. How you related and all the tidbits you noticed and pointed out that you really liked was refreshing because you pointed out so many things that other reactors don’t, like the outfits and the bread. It made it that much more special. My favorite part about Encanto is that there was no actual villain. It was a story of how toxicity can tear a family apart. Not a toxicity built of hatred or malice but from misplaced love and concern. They were so wrapped up on worrying about The Family, they forgot that they should worry about the members of the family. One of the videos that I have seen commenting about the Columbian background of the film pegged this as around or after the turn of the last century when Columbia was recovering from a Civil War where one political party fixed an election and the other started revolting and many were fleeing the killing in the cities as Aubela and Abuelo did. After I learned that, Aubela's fear made so much more sense. My wish is that everyone who anticipates Civil War or even looks forward to it happening could take a moment and learn from the stories of the survivors of such horrors. How such events can damage future generations and no one would wish such on their children or grandchildren. There are many gifts that those who came to earn citizenship here can bless us with, but their stories cannot come from anywhere else. I hope we all can listen together in the new year 🙏

Grandma calling Bruno 'Brunito' reminded me of my next door neighbor when I was little. Mr Garcia had 5 daughters and joked with my dad, who had two sons, that he'd consider us his kids so he'd have some sons too. I guess that makes him my unofficial godfather. He'd sometimes call us 'my little gingettos'. Lol. I remember them fondly. The only problem is you'd have to be careful walking by their house if you'd already eaten. The door would fling open, and the next thing you knew you were sitting at their table with a plate piled high with food and, excuses like, 'but I'm full' were met with a blank stare, like, 'ok, and?' To be fair they _were_ amazing cooks and eating again was typically worth the stomach ache.

YES! John Leguozamo plays Bruno. He's probably one of the more well known voice actors in the movie, despite not having a ton of screen time comparatively. Easily one of my favorite films of 2021 and one of my favorite films in the Disney Animation canon. Encanto really hits me home so much that it hurts. I love the characters, the music, the songs, the premise, and even the gorgeous animation done by my friends at Disney Animation in Burbank. I honestly loved this movie. I'm Colombian so I'm able to identify little "easter eggs" about our culture in the film of course but what really moved me is the way it approached to the conflicts that have marked our history. Not everyone would notice that I guess, but the first time they talked about Bruno going away I, and maybe a lot of us, immediately thought of all the families that lost relatives to the many wars and those who left to fight for, or against, what they thought was the future of our country, leaving their families behind it in the process. When I heard the song where Pedro leaves them I couldn't keep it to myself, is really overwhelming when you know that really happened everywhere on the country. I also believe that the movie really wanted to show that Colombia has a second chance after leaving the darkest days behind and that only understanding each other and our differences is what will allow us to heal. Overall I believe is a really smart movie that is so representative of Colombian magic realism using totally fantastic elements to tell real stories that seemed to traumatic to be told crudely. I stumbled across this video a few days because I wanted to see genuine reactions from the latin community. And the authenticity of not just your knowledge as you reference and compare the Colombian culture to your own, but also the empathy for Mirabel's family strife truly made this video enjoyable. Plus, you kept it real throughout. Speaking Spanish at times, your honest expressions and words during scenes that irritated you (Dolores at dinner) or felt heartwarming (Antonio's hesitation) or empowering (Mirabel speaking out), even dancing to the music. People have said it's unrealistic to see abuela apologize that quickly, but honestly, if your grandchild telling you how you are the reason shit is falling apart caused the mystical force protecting your family to break apart as her words held weight, I think you'd start rethinking things too. I think a very important, but subtle, detail in Abuela's backstory is we see the moment she chooses to hide her grief, hide her pain, shove it all down and become the strong matriarch that she believes the townspeople need her to be. So this tradition in the family of shoving it all down started because she felt she needed to be strong. It helps you understand her actions earlier in the film. She needed to be strong, her family needed to be strong, the magic needed to be strong. It's not that she intentionally gaslit Mirabel, she just desperately didn't want to believe that she was reliving the loss of her beloved through losing the magic. Just like she did 50 years ago she was choosing to push all her fears and sadness down to be strong for those who rely on her. And Mirabel calling her out made her see that choosing to hide all the emotions in order to be strong for everyone else has only made her and her family suffer. At least, that's my interpretation.

Encanto, is so beautiful, in our family I am the Louisa, and that was something I straight got from our Abuela. She had trauma, our Moms got it too, and now us cousins are trying to break it. Thank you for not hiding how it made you feel. Its ok to cry. LOL

Stuff that I noticed Something that I really found interesting is that in every Disney movie the older generation is usually so nice and always make sure the main character is the golden child, but here they made sure to show a somewhat more realistic family. Sometimes it’s difficult to get your grandparents to truly understand you, especially if you think differently if you are born in a different generation. I know my grandma is a but iffy especially when I think and have different opinions than hers. Another thing is that in the movie Mirable is the only one that talks to the house, others just kinda go along with what the house does. Like at the beginning the grandmother just waves at the house when it comes alive, but when the house came alive at the end Mirable said hi to the house because she’s the one that connects to the house not just emotionally but also communication wise.

There are a few things I think about certain things that can frame things differently. One is during We Dont Talk About Bruno, while every one is saying bad things about Bruno Isabella brings up the vision he had of her future. To me this was her saying she wasn't happy with her life without actually saying it, that she meant that prophecy didn't come true. Second is Delores telling the family about Brunos last vision when she did. It's clear she can keep secrets, so I think there are serveral reasons she did this. She was in love the the guy about to propose, for one. Also, I think it's likely she knew Isabella had no interest in him, and did it for her sake as well. At least that's my take, and I haven't really seen it anywhere.

I am half Colombian and was so happy to get this movie but also so happy that this movie was so good as well. Everytime I watch a reaction I cry again so much and enjoyed this reaction a lot!
