that's probably because they're dancing very authentic, what competitive dance used to look like in their time. You may or may not know but Jukka and Sirpa are former Blackpool champions i think about 4 times and WSS performers. I guess that's the style they focus on and like. IPersonally i like it. :)

I am curious, why do you say that? What doesn't appeal to you? The feeling and connection that this couple has exceeds by far what many people dance today. They are taking it (latin ballroom) back to Cuban roots, as the intro shows (music by Buena Vista Social Club). I'm not trying to antagonize, I just want to discuss a little about dance evolution, thanks :)

I could argue the connection statement you made indefinitely, haha, as it seems one of the most crucial things about ballroom as a couples dance. Were you referring to inter- or intrapersonal connection? Without the former one might as well dispense with a partner and carry on alone, which would be much easier! If connection is in your opinion small, what makes up the other large chunk?

the connection i mean is between partner.s its purpose is for communication and support (leader helps follower to keep balance and speeds her up). it is similar to service . do you emphasize on food or service when you go to restaurant? do you focus on connection or dance itself? it is all subjective.

from this video, you can clearly see that he shows no isolation between arm movement and body movement, isolation between torso and hip is also gone. the latter one may be due to age but the first one simply indicates he is not a good dancer by himself. connection is a small part of dance.

Who are they?

Ah, I see. But the things you're picking out as incorrect are merely different stylistic viewpoints on latin ballroom. I've heard so many theories on proper usage of the arms, but completely isolating was never one of them... maybe distinct would be a better word? I'm a little confused because usually when people use isolate, they mean complete separation into entities, whereas with ballroom it's the communication of the body as a whole unit with different voices working seamlessly together.

they won blackpool only twice. their reason to retire immediately was a mystery. were they afraid of been defeated by paul and bryan? curious and curiouser.

isolation of arm movement from body has been popular among top amateurs. some pro are adopting this new idea. for example, riccardo and yulia. not to mention new blood. dancing is subjective. bent knee were common 20 years ago. straight knee is more popular today. slavik set the new rules. no more donnie..

Even 10 years ago, they were not as awesome as you thought. most people considered paul killick a much better latn dancer. it is well known that jukka can not dance jive correctly. his head goes up and down which is a no-no in jive technique. this is similar to slavik and michael in last 5 years. most people consider slavik a much better latin dancer. only eccentric think michael and jukka are good dancers. eccentric like you.
