Hi, react to Marilia Mendonça - SUPERA (Todos os cantos) This video is from the project Todos os Cantos (everywhere) where the concept was to release a song in each Brazilian state capital, being the releasse a free show in a public space. She announces the show on the day when she arrives in the city. She is so popular here in Brazil, recently (in quarentine) she did a live at home that broke the world record on youtube, something close to 3,2 million people at the same time.

An interesting thing: Marilia had the surprise project "Todos os cantos" in which she held shows totally free in all capitals of Brasil (27). BUT, she appeared by surprise in all these places! A day before she would give tips like the largest urban park in Latin America and one of the largest in the world. One of the many differences between portugues in Brazil and in Portugal is that brazilians, usually don’t conjugate the 2º person in verbs, so in Portugal a phrase would sound like “Vois sois ótimos.” ( 2º person of plural) and in Brazil same phrase would sound “Vocês são ótimos” (3º person of plural).

All the grammar rules in european portuguese exists and it's correct in brazilian portuguese. The vocabulary is 95% the same. The biggest difference is the accent and the use of gerund (their gerund can be used in br-pt too). Every brazilian can understand pt-pt if they get used to the accent (in few days it should happen)

We do have some differences in grammar and vocabulary. As a Portuguese, it’s quite easy for me to understand Brazilians (maybe because of the exposure we have to Brazilian telenovelas and music). Contrarily, I think Brazilians have a harder time understanding (also because we speak with our mouth more close).

She began composing when she was 12-years-old. Before she got famous, some of her songs were already known in Brazil by the voice of other singers. Only after that, she introduced herself as a singer too. In the video "Flor e o Beija-flor", her fame was just begining, she was a guest in the concert of Henrique e Juliano. They are really good friends. After that, her carreer became meteoric. In the video "Eu sei de cor" she was already very famous. She is so talented and charismatic. We love her. So you can have an idea, this year, during the pandemic and quarentine, many Brazilians singers made lives on KZbin (like a complete show, homemade, singing their biggest hits virtually), so everybody could be safe at home and entertained. Her live was a record! She achieved 3.2 milion SIMULTANEOUS views. All these people were watching her from their homes. It was in april and, until now, nobody could beat her record. Also, this kind of music she sings (sertanejo) is traditionally sang by men in Brazil. Only in the past few years women are taking place in this music gender.
