The official language in Indonesia in Bahasa Indonesia/Indonesian language. Indonesia is an archipelago country and that is what makes Indonesia has many tribes and each tribe has its own language (around 700 regional languages). But what is used in general (for schools and businesses) is Indonesian language. FYI, English is also taught in school since elementary school but not all Indonesian practice it daily... (usually people who are fluent in English because they study at the private school or study abroad)

I met NIKI by hearing 88rising’s álbum Head in the clouds II and I’ve been a fan of hers ever since! She’s soooo talented and has a great quirky personality ♥️ I also first heard of Phum Viphurit from a song he sang with NIKI in that same album and their voices complement each other so well too

By the way, In Indonesia, We speak Indonesian as our national language but wasn't the first language we learnt and we don't speak Indonesian within our own tribe (there are about 1000 tribes in Indonesia spread over in 17.840 islands. They all speak different languages and practice different cultural and traditional things). Just like me, I am from a small island called Lombok and my tribe is Sasak, so my main language is Sasak language (This language is divided into 4 major dialects and over 50 of sub dialects. I, personally can only understand 3 of those dialects). If you parent came from different tribes, then you at least must understand each of your parent original language to enable you to communicate with your grand parents (Old people understand Indonesian but they will prefer speaking their own mother language). Since Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world, So most of the Indonesian children must learn Arabic since the very early age. Even before you enter kindergarten. English is the most favourite Foreign language in Indonesian. You will be able to learn English when entering Elementary school. And because you watch English movies every day, it helps a lot to improve our English. As you enter Senior high school, you are allowed to learn more foreign languages beside English. Most common are: Mandarin, Japanese, Germany, French, Spanish and Italian. You can only pick one of them when in High School. Speaking more than 1 foreign languag beside English can help you find Job much easier. Basically, Indonesian people were born speaking trilingual and can speak average 4 - 5 languages when they grew up. Fun fact: Rich Brian learnt English from KZbin. Well, he of course had English lesson at school, but KZbin helps him improve his English and make him sounds native. There are 3 Indonesian singers under 88 rising: Rich Brian, NIKI and Stephanie Poetri. We hope you don't mind checking them out. Thank you so much.
