Somi is half Dutch-Canadian and half Korean. She was originally a JYP trainee and was part of the show that made TWICE. She made it all the way to the finale but ultimately failed to get into the group because JYP said she was too young. A few months later she appeared on the First season of Produce 101 and won first place and successfully debuted with I.O.I. All produce groups are temporary so they did disband and she returned to being a JYP trainee. She spent a long time waiting to redebut and it was rumored she would be part of Itzy but right before they debuted she left JYP and joined the black label which is a subsidiary of YG. Now she’s a successful solo artist.
