I made an ultimate discraft ultrastar from birch plywood. It was over weight but flew more understable. Was good for practicing smooth catches matching your arm movement to the speed of the incoming disc otherwise it could break your fingers. If I was going to make wooden golf discs I would also use plywood and make more overstable moulds

It's probably already been mentioned, but next time, try to use a piece of wood that has more straight-grain. Never include pith wood if you want it to remain flat (that's the darker wood in the center of your disc). You could also use a stable wood like Southern Magnolia, poplar, or clear maple.
@rustyneuron Жыл бұрын
Clear maple is such a gorgeous wood too, at least I think so.

@bryanfellenbaum92502 жыл бұрын
The disc is warped because the material looks livesawn. This creates cupping (shown when the birch was unplanned) and is very tough to eliminate even after planing. It's also very difficult to avoid this when the material is so thin. If you want to do a second video on this (as a woodworker and maker I love this stuff), try to get some quarter sawn lumber instead, and look for a nice and straight piece to start. Maybe 1" or 25mm thick. Awesome video!

Nice try! As a woodturner, I would say that you made a beginners mistake. You took a slab of wood that came from the middle of the trunk. Therefore, after turning it, it began to bend along the grains. I think you should take a piece of quarter sawn wood of combine 3 thinner layers that you put accross each other to make it more stable. I'm trying to get in to discgolf at this point and taking my 1st track i Høylandet (after moving to Norway a week ago, going to live i Namsskogan, Yipie!).
