That's not a Traxxas? WL toys.?
@RiverTheNerd3 жыл бұрын
@@earlyculyer4103 No, it's a Traxxas (Latrax) sub-brand. If you noticed, I think he said Latraxxas in the video lol Edit: The other link is for a WLToys that is similar, but he still sent the link for the Latrax
@RiverTheNerd3 жыл бұрын
By the way, that link is outdated. AMainHobbies don't sell it anymore, but you can search it on HobbyTown for the same thing and price.

I did this mod, and added a 4800kv brushless, and 3s. That thing is wicked fast!

Perfect for people who only care about an offroad truck's top speed on asphalt. This gearing is designed for the LaTrax rally, a smaller, lighter car with smaller tires. In other words, while it increases the top speed, tbis mod will negatively affect the truck's general offroad performance characteristics by robbing it of the bottom end torque it had. Overgearing can also overheat and kill your motor pretty easily. Not a huge deal since it's like ten bucks for a new LaTrax motor, but still. Might want to put that out there for people.

Is there a different gear setup for the Latrax that will increase speed without burning out the motor?

I did this upgrade and found my truck hauling on the asphalt. Unfortunately I made the mistake of running in light dirt and low grass and killed my motor. Going back to stock for dirt/grass. I’ll keep it for those hi speed runs and I’m thinking of go brushless anyway.

sorry to hear that

No worries. I called Traxxas and they are sending me a replacement motor. I had issues with my motor on the first battery pack. It may have been a dud. I’ll try it again when I receive the new motor.

Did you have any issue when you changed the gears out. I put the 54t and 14t piñon gear they kept making a grinding noise as if one gear was too small
@DriftomaniacsRC5 жыл бұрын
sorry sold this on a long time ago, sounds like the gear mesh is too tight though

I do like the idea however I do expect this would effect the off the line speed or starting acceleration. Any feedback on that?
@DriftomaniacsRC7 жыл бұрын
Yes any such change in gearing will affect the acceleration

Any idea if this will work with the Teton?
@jakeslidez2 жыл бұрын
it should
@HenryBoland8 жыл бұрын
do you think this set up would work with a 2s lipo if I add a motor cooler? Also does this effect the acceleration by a lot
@DriftomaniacsRC8 жыл бұрын
Wow! That's a lot of power to put through it BUT not ruling it out, it could set the car alight performance wise but you'd need to check to see if the ESC took lipo power. Not sure it does. e.g no low voltage cut out (but you could fit an inline audible low voltage alarm) However that said I doubt 2S would kill the ESC. 3S probably would and 3S would be too much for the transmission and I think stuff would break. But 2S? A possibility. You have set me thinking - I've a 2S pack downstairs but need to check what connectors on it. I may give it a go if I've time tomorrow (And the right connector).
@HenryBoland8 жыл бұрын
Driftomaniacs thx for the reply and the Teton does have a lipo cutoff you can set it to
@DriftomaniacsRC8 жыл бұрын
Okay if the Teton has the lipo cutoff thats good. It's not a car I've explored in any detail as yet.
@stevebonner91087 жыл бұрын
The SST has got a lipo cutout built into the esc. I use 2s lipos in mine all the time. The only problem i have had is it eats motors. Trying a Maverick Ion one at moment.

I did this recently on my Latrax Teton and the motor burned out. I am using steel gears and titanium pinon. I'm purchased another 380 motor and dropping to a 12t to see if that helps out.

So are these little rc's good? There's a deal where it's being sold for $150 dollars and i have a $50 gift card making it only $100. Is it worth buying?
@DriftomaniacsRC8 жыл бұрын
I would say yes.Particularly adding this mod, which makes it come alive. It's best suited to tarmac or hard pack dirt rather than grass. Even short grass is not it's friend. So factor in your target running area before buying it. Although just a bit higher at c.$200 the Traxxas Bigfoot is good and will motor over anything and is super durable.
