I think humans should get a tattoo like a strike on their forehead on their birthday every year just so everyone is clear just how old you really are and the only way to hide it is to have a long fringe but people would always be like, "Tell him to lift his fringe, I wanna see how old he is," before you pay for the milkshake. Few, thank God that's not a thing. I don't need reminding how old I am and I am not in a intimate relationship so no one else needs to know, not that I mind, but I wont be telling them. Don't eat rare meat and you wont get sick and don't lose ya mind or they will find out. You only look as old as you do because that's your vision of being old. It's amazing how good your acoustic stuff sounds. It's like it has all the post processing studio stuff done, but it's just... natural. And to me, that makes it that much cooler because, to me, too much music in the past few decades has had too much post processing done and ends up not letting the voices and instruments speak for themselves.

That's the Rudy van Gelder style of mix and master. Put outstanding talent in front of a quality microphone and make sure you capture as much of the performance as you can. The rest happens on its own. Laufey has some of that magic.

Fully agreed. Was wondering the same thing. Being far from the mic in a room that isn't fully treated.. It's surprising her voice comes out strong clear and intimate too. Only thing that sticks out is the background rumble. My speakers make it feel like I'm there and I always wonder if a car just drove in to my driveway listening to her songs 😅

Chords are basically Gmaj7 and Amin7 alternating (with the chromatic passing tone G#/Ab in the bass) and alternating Bmin7 and Amin7 (again with chromatic bass passing note, near the end the complete chromatic passing chord is used), before returning to the Gmaj7 Amin7 section there is a D9 chord thrown in.

I think she's not in standard tuning though because if you try the same finger shapes on a standard tuned guitar it doesn't work. For example the first chord she plays I can only get by strumming 3-5-4-4-3-X

@@joshuafisher4241 It's in standard tuning, the first chord is a regular maj7 voicing: 3-X-4-4-3-X (pretty much the same shape you suggested just without the doubled fifth on the A string fret 5), and the second chord is 5-X-5-5-5-X (same shape used for the other min7 chords, easiest as barré). On the Amin7 chord she throws the ninth in from time to time though: fret 7 high E string, using her pinky D9 is X-5-4-5-5-0

@@joshuafisher4241 Sure, there's nothing wrong with your voicing! Generally speaking - especially on guitar - there are so many options to play these chords, you can do it however you want. Just experiment. You could go with open chords as well for example: 3-2-0-0-3-2 (Gmaj7) and X-0-2-0-1-0 (Amin7) Btw, the chord with the C on the A string sounding would be called a Gmaj7(add11) which is indeed a rather dissonant chord partly due to the interval between the 7th (F#) and the 11th (C), which is a tritone.
