Sure other guitarists may be able to play harder stuff, but Randy Rhoads can play hard stuff and make it sound good and have a flow and have feeling to it. valerieash ... I believe it was because Ozzy just let him play and creat. Ozzy was mature and allowed Randy to mature musically and personally. Randy use to wear a vest with pocadots and a big bow tie like Roger rabbit. Ozzy saw that and told Randy to get rid of the outfit. Instead Randy put on leather pants and a leather vest, all black and looked super cool, a Rockstar.... . Everyone was kids in quiet riot. Having fun. In Ozzy, you don't get it or perform your fired period.

Ozzy w/Daisley and Kerslake offerered Randy the opportunity to write music that was heavier and darker than QR, and seemed to suit his immense talent more appropriately. @davidhoopaugh5 жыл бұрын
@leahcim38 Look at other Diary tunes such as SATO or Little Dolls, that remained unfinished upon release. Just a rhythm and scratch. No overdubs. Randy was disappointed. I think these songs are monumental tracks, pure, honest, and dark. There are the commercial cuts too, Crazy Train, Flying High Again. Remember, Oz is Sabbath. QR was Sunset Strip. Rhoads brought another key element, a comprehension of classical composition, Goodbye to Romance, Tonight. You are right, of course, with such a slight body of work, we are left with only an introduction to an infinitely unknown potential of a young artist with a gift of truth, inspired and honest.

I'm crying from my eyes (what the hell does that even mean?!) at this HUGE loss of a small in stature, but GARGANTUAN talent!! This should be a valuable lesson to wannabe guitar heros. It's not about how fast you can play them notes. It's about articulation, phrasing, Dynamics, going where most wouldn't think to go with the notes, musicality, etc. Soooooooooooooo many slingers out there, but none touch me like Randy or Eddie. I gotta say it again. These guys can WRITE songs that can be appreciated by music lovers as well as guitarists. That skill has all but died. I love guys like Guthrie ( Don't u dare say that I'm dissing him. LOVE that guy to death! I will break ur arm off and beat u with it if u say that!! LOL), but while, as a guitar player myself, I love all that stuff by guys like him (and others players), I'm not sure my non-guitar playing friends could find enjoyment listening to them.... Randy Rhoads has and is a major inspiration to me as a guitarist. I was not fortunate enough to see him live. I had purchased tickets to see him and Ozzy at a festival in New Orleans and later finding out about the airplane crash. Randy's replacement for that show was Brad Gillis of the Night Ranger fame. So anyone who had the great fortune to see him, with Ozzy or Quiet Riot, were very, very lucky.
