I plan to get there one day. I'm from New Zealand but says in my family history that the last Adams to live in England before coming to New Zealand was baptised in the Mary Magdalene, Wesleyan Chapel, Launceston, Cornwall 1821.

Wow! That’s interesting. A long way to come but I’m sure it’d be worth it 👍🏼

My great grandfather was the Superintendent of the Cornwall Constabulary based in Launceston. He lived there from 1906 until his death in 1947.

Oh wow! I bet he had some stories to tell.

I actually live in Launceston, Tasmania! It was great seeing the other Launceston of the world. Our city is nowhere near as old but it is still the third oldest city in Australia! We actually have a building called Cornwall square! What is the population of your town? Ours is about 90,000. We have a tamar river aswell! Would love to see more of these! Subscribed!

spuddie200 thanks for your comment . If I remember rightly, your Launceston was named by its first mayor, who originated from my Launceston. I’m not entirely sure of the population here, certainly a lot smaller. To make an educated guess I’d say around 15’000. I do plan on more local vids, but been a bit busy with grown up stuff recently. Appreciate the sub, cheers! Jeff.

Yes, I noticed that too. A switch in history and architecture, but two lovely cities.😅

did the town some justice. Launceston big prominent town in the old ages, you can tell by the church, and it had it's own MP, so quite a lot of people came from Launceston back in the day.

Yes the ancient capital of Cornwall. Would have been interesting to see it back then. Thank you 👍🏼

13:49 I was gonna say. the clocks on St Mary's could do with a make over.. when i visited Launceston for the first time around 18 years ago.. the clocks was nowhere in the same condition as they are now... Lets hope it doesn't end up the same way as flexbury park Methodist church did where that had to close permanently due to structural problems...
@Saddlebags733 жыл бұрын
It’s a shame. Thankfully I think the building itself is structurally sound. But some love and attention to the clocks would make a big difference.
