This is the first time I've seen footage of the Heb's launch, although I've travelled on her on the Uig- Lochmaddy crossing many times.

I’ve watched quite a few launches from the other side of the river bank. Incredible to see. Happy days😊.

The ship was the least of the hazards.. Those poles falling nearly hit a few, but mostly they were running from the wave that was about to swamp the slip.

Poor old lass is laid low for quite a length of time, as parts are so difficult to find now. The other 3 old ladies covered for their younger sisters and did not fail! The faithful LOTI sadly will be the first ship Calmac will replace, even though she is the most travelled on all the west coast routes! They'll rue the day they axe her services!

Me and my friend Brian were cameramen for this video.

Hello - I am a researcher with IWC media, we are currently making a documentary about CalMac for the BBC. You mentioned you were the camera operator for this video, do you have more info about this? Do you know who owns this footage and what it was filmed for? We'd love to be able to get in touch with them to potentially get access to this! Any info you may have would be much appreciated! Thanks, Charlotte

@@CharlotteResearcherTV I worked for a guy called Brian Glenn, he also shot lots of footage, he owned the equipment and the tapes, but I think the footage was sold to Yorkshire Television for their local news program "Calendar", sorry I can't help more, but I hope this is of some use.

@@norsch That is really helpful thank you! I have just had confirmation that it is owned by ITV Yorkshire (previously Yorkshire Television) so thank you very much for your help.

As far as i know, the Hebridean Isles ran the Islay Ferry until the Finlaggan Was Built.

She served the "Uig triangle" between 1986 and 2001, when she was replaced by Hebrides. She transferred to the Islay run in partnership with Isle of Arran until 2011, when Finlaggan replaced Isle of Arran. She still serves Islay as of 2017.
