As a book coach and indie author, this is one of the most authentic and information filled videos I have come across. Excellent content.

The thing I like about you Derek is you base your success by adding values to others. This formula, if it comes from the heart, will always work. Thank you, brother!

Thank you as an old fashioned author told to stop by agents and publishers enjoying the last book glitter. Glad of your tips see The Chocolate Mountain Chronicles TV but I really thought you helped me as it was twenty years ago and really scary!! What I enjoy is you said all that stuff on one take like my ancestor at Tyburn Gallows famous for his 1-hour speech (hung as the Keeper of the Tower of London). I think you really are amazing to shoot one take like our old style Tv interview shows.. long gone. You should be a publisher. Really helpful and terrifying at the same time after 20 years since my last award-nominated book. Thank you for explaining the brave new world long past Huxley and Orwell's dreams. No wonder your books are doing so well. Like my cousin acting on Princess Bride, he had no idea it would be a cult movie. Robert Elwes. Thanks from an old author.

Wow! Thanks so much for mentioning all these tactics in one place. Question: since using Goodreads giveaways seems to skew a book's also-boughts, would you still recommend going through Goodreads at all? If so, when during a book launch do you think would be the best time to do so?

I would love to know the answer to this question! I am considering using goodreads for a giveaway.

Hi, Derek. Question: what to do about a book that's almost finished but you as an author know that it's not entirely written to market? Better luck next time?
@DerekMurphycreativindie6 жыл бұрын
Do the best you can anyway - you can still sell a lot of books in a smaller market, as long as you figure out what they want and position your book to attract them. It'll be more work but you can still do well, and learn from the experience. And/Or, you can get a little better at writing to market each time, so you don't have to work as hard.

Check out Kindle Ranker (www.kindleranker.com) to help you find golden niches and profitable book ideas. It is much simpler to market/promote a book that is listed in popular categories and uses the right keywords. That way you leverage the Kindle/Kobo/Smashwords ecosystem to your advantage. They do the work for you by recommending your books to potential readers.
