Appreciate the in depth look, you’ve actually brought me some good pros/cons when buying a new knife. I’m an amateur chef and made it a little easier when looking for a good/affordable kitchen knife.

I like the wuustof le cordon Bleu chef knife. It's light, and holds an edge decently. Also easy to sharpen. For a workhorse knife, no complaints so far.

Have you heard of SharpEdge knives? I'd be curious to get some opinions on those.

They've made a chef knife sized petty knife. If you haven't already, check out some TwoSun kitchen knives in 14c28n steel.

Think I'll keep checking their page to see if they actually listened and updated that various hardness verbiage.

3:08 9cr is not highly rated in the knife world, it is on the low end of budget in fact, usually those websites that talk about steels like 9cr or 8cr or aus 6 are drastically incorrect

Hey you are doing them a favor by reviewing and telling them about a few key changes they can make immediately ... consistency in the ad information. That alone adds 15% to salability I would think. The other issues are less fixable in this rendition but they can in the next one. I just figured it out ... with the hair and beard. The Bob Ross of Cooking.

When i go to the site and see 2 different hrc ratings for the same knife, thats not good. Plus its made from the same steel as my old 20€ chinese knife

When I see a couple inconsistencies in the description and the typical buzz words, then they have already lost me. When the maker knows less about their product than the buyer does, that is a problem.
@saab92512 жыл бұрын
Sounds like one of the other dozens of knife brands out there that are essentially just a brand. Probably having the knife made by the same manufacturer as most of the other made in China knives these days which would explain the inconsistent specs. They drew the design of the knife and the box, then had someone else figure everything else out.

My thoughts exactly. The very same boring shit they also do with wrist watches and whatnot.

Just give me a bland Victorinox that i can use and abuse. 🙃
@folkduck2 жыл бұрын
I have some pretty knives that look great and feel great to use, but I never use, because I don't want to damage them. I have a two Victorinox knives for boning and butchering. I have no issue putting them through the worst, and can easily bring them back through sharpening. Love them for that.

I have one knife that isn't really fancy, but it stands out because it's a carbon steel Chinese vegetable cleaver. It's my 'cool' knife. The rest is Victorinox or Mercer. Just affordable knives that work well and can be abused.

I think the “fake hamon line” is just the San-mai construction (at least if they’re telling the truth).
@jojojaykay2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s fake either. That’s exactly what cladding lines look like for knives that are indeed clad. While I agree with the overall conclusion that this knife isn’t worth the price, this guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about a lot of the time as evidenced here.
@adrianenciso92772 жыл бұрын
@@jojojaykay Technically it still wouldn’t be a “hamon” line though, because that line isn’t the result of a differential tempering process on a mono steel. This guy isn’t super knowledgeable on all aspects of knives, but he does represent a good number of chefs and home cooks. If I was going to buy a family member a knife I’d still probably go for a miyabi, but it’s good to know that even that has some significantly diminishing returns for the average person.
@jojojaykay2 жыл бұрын
@@adrianenciso9277 I agree, which is why I’m careful to refer to it specifically as a cladding line. Looking back I sound a bit too critical. Overall, while he does make a lot of mistakes on specifics, I generally really like this guy’s attitude and the way he approaching things especially in a skeptical way. Overall he’s a good watch I think. And yeah, he probably is a good representation of a lot of people out there shopping around.

Wonder why one must initiate a kick-starter campaign for something as mundane as a kitchen knife anyway. Especially when the design is as generic as the brands that already are around on the usual internet sales channels by the dozen.

Hey man I recently posted my own review of the same knife with generally negative feedback, check it out if you have time. Vosteed reimbursed me for a knife so I'm OK. Good idea for a knife but overall quality is below my standards....

Doesn't seem worth the money. Tacky fake markings and over implied marketing anyways leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
