Laura Branigan - "Hola Música" - Viña del Mar Festival (1988)

At Viña del Mar Festival, Chile, February 1988, Laura spoke with Paraguayan journalist covering the festival for the show "Hola Música". Laura's piece includes performance video with voiceover about her love for the Chilean people and also some background information about her.

Ella es hermosa, ella es una estrella, Ella es Laura Branigan, otro de los atractivos de Viña del Mar de este año 1988. Con una amplia trayectoria artística, Laura Branigan se ha convertido en una de las voces femeninas mas importantes de los años 80.
Durante este tiempo ella ha obtenido discos de oro y ella ha impuesto numerosas canciones, tales como "Gloria," "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You," "Solitaire," y "Ti Amo," en Estados Unidos y en todo el mundo. Laura Branigan nació en el estado de nueva york y, luego de su graduación, emprendió rumbo a Manhattan.
Mas tarde fue contratada por el cantante Leonard cohen para una gira para Europa. De regreso a nueva york, buscó un repertorio para lanzarse como solista, mientras el éxito de ella STREET BUZZ, empezaba a sonar. Tiempo después, ella firmaba un contrato discográfico con Atlantic records.

Le preguntamos a ella si, entre sus dos shows en Chile, cual de ellos ha sido el mejor para Laura Branigan. Ella sostuvo que la segunda presencia fue la mejor, mi voz estuvo mas acentada dice la vocalista y yo me sentí algo mas confiada en esta oportunidad.
Recordemos que, por otro lado Laura Branigan, en marzo de 1982, publica su primer album rotulado BRANIGAN. Este LP rápidamente comenzó su asenso, impulsado por el tema "Gloria," este publicado con single en mayo de 1982. A los seis meses ya ocupaba el primer lugar en su país, Estados Unidos.
En enero del año siguiente, ganaba disco de oro, la misma semana, Laura Branigan ganaba su primera nominación al Grammy como la mejor voz femenina pop de ese año.

Laura Branigan loves the people of Viña, the people of Chile. “I had a lot of fans these nights in Viña del Mar, and the people were magnificent and very warm, especially on this last night, and this is Latin America, she says."
We asked her, between her two shows in Chile, which of them has been the best for Laura Branigan. She maintained that the second presence was the best, my voice was more accented, says the vocalist, and I felt a little more confident on this occasion.

Laura Branigan was a very loved and valued singer in Chile. She was there for the first time in 1986 (she sang dysphonically in both shows and even so, she showed a powerful voice and captivated) and then returned in 1988. That's why she said that her voice was better compared to her first time in 1986. An anecdote is that Laura was in VIÑA's plans in 1985, but due to her schedule and the high cost of her show she could not come. In 1986 she was brought in to present the HOLD ME tour and she was the most expensive artist that year and was the singer who brought the most equipment to the festival.
