Her personal doctor had her do an MRI in 1991, to see why she was having constant headaches behind her left eye. The doctor told her, she needed to stop snorting cocaine and speed, or she would make the blood vessel behind her left eye have an aneurysm... She stopped doing the drugs. And. He gave her a prescription for Tylenol 3's with codeine, to help her with her headaches... He never sent her to a vascular surgeon, though... Even though she had stopped doing the drugs, the blood vessel behind her left eye, eventually had an aneurysm, anyway. It happened while she was asleep, and she bled out through her nose, into her pillow...

Was 16yrs old when Laura Brannigan’s “Self Control” was released and since then it has been my favorites of Laura’s songs. I never get tired of this classic dance tune playing it in full blast. Picture it, it was 1984-1985, hot as hell summer in NY, I’m 9 years old and my mom has the T-Top off day and night on her Firebird with this cassette blasting when she would take me places. Life was so good, mom blasting Laura’s music in the car and house. So many memories flooding in.

Personal favorite of mine. It has a steamy video that got banned from MTV until it was edited. There’s no doubt that this prevented it from going even higher than it did on Billboard in the USA (#4). It was an international smash , #1 all across Europe, and probably the biggest worldwide single of 1984. It’s use of an electric guitar mainstream rock riff and power chords over its Euro-Disco rhythm and beats made it palatable to all but the most hardcore disdainers of Disco.

This is a cover version of europop group RAF's original (1983). Though their version is pretty good, I prefer Laura's. RIP.❤. Great mix.

Hello from Italy: just a correction. RAF is not a Europop group but the short form name of RAFFAELE RIEFOLI who is an Italian singer pretty famous here. In the beginning of his career he was acclaimed for this killer eurodance hit back in the 80's following since then a music path more pop oriented. Love this Laura Branigan's version though. I've waited for ages for a remix of this by you! This is epic stuff ! Laura never gets her proper due; she was one of the best artists going for a short bit back then. She had some real solid work but had some bad luck. It's a shame her career fell apart and ended like it did. She was honestly ahead of her time in some ways; put her in 2022 and she'd be so dominant right now as both a singer and a model. She was a knockout back then and she would be in modern times as well.

She fell off her ladder painting the roof of her home in about 2001/2002, and broke both legs. She had her stroke 2004 as a result of the small internal blood clot that broke loose and lodged into her brain. The same happened to my business partner, he had a car accident swerving to avoid a deer, and flipped his car. 2-3 years later, he had a stroke that he survived from, but he was disabled for the rest of his life.

i think LB is one of the more underrated female singers of the '80s. every song that was released and hit the t40 were good. her version of HAISTLWY is way better than mboltons. her version of POL is also better than JR, AS and even CD!! i don't know why spanish eddie wasn't a bigger hit. maybe dj...you could work on an extended of that one!!! as for SC, the single/album version is good, but i prefer the original 12" version over it!
