I agree with her.. I wanted to be an actor since I was a child.. but both my parents did not want that for me.. ultimately I went into acting anyway but I was 27 when I really started to pursue it. When I go to auditions and experience the pressure of getting the job or not, getting the rejections etc. it really can affect a persons psyche especially if they’re not prepared for it.. then I see children going to auditions facing the same challenges that adults have , with even less emotional tools to navigate that environment. I think it can be incredibly detrimental.. and whereas I wanted ( and still do) to be an ACTOR ... people now want to be FAMOUS which is often used interchangeably but it has very different meanings. I look back and thank my parents for not putting me in when I was a child because I got to have normal life experiences and that helped me develop the tools and perspective to be able to navigate this career in a healthy manner.

ArdentMuskrat13 yes I have.. I’ve booked few supporting roles in indie films that have been released on RedBox and Amazon Prime.. last summer I booked a role on a pilot of a tv show that premiered this year at Sundance Film Festival and won SXSW 2020.. also I booked a national commercial for a well known brand that aired in US, Mexico and Canada. In addition, I’ve done a lot of theater in Hollywood, CA. It’s a tough industry but I keep going at it.

Seen variety stars say how things can be for a spot on movies or shows ,etc. u try for any spot and sometimes u get a spot u didnt expect. and other times u dont get any for any reason. so they say u just gotta be ready if u wanna be in the industry that much. some even go from being in front to being bts later. just gotta go with what u really like and know there pros and cons to any job.

Banzaifly 100%... I didn’t have support from my parents in the beginning so I had to find a way to make sure I was financially secure... this meant going back to school and studying a second career that has given me the time and financial resources to pursue acting without having to go through more traditional routes such as serving or bartending or working a 9-5 which can be obstacles to actors schedule. But I had devote a few years to that... it was hard but I knew I was doing it for my acting career. That helped me push through it.

it all depends on how the parent work it. there are plenty of child actors that went on to be perfectly fine adults.

1369Stiles yes that’s true. I’m a mother to two amazing daughters and I want them to have a childhood and not spend that childhood in front of a camera acting and paying taxes. That’s however just me. I understand that for some adults who acted as kids it was a wonderful experience and for some adults it wasn’t. I just want my kids to be kids.

My oldest son was in national commercials and a soap opera starting at age 2 1/2. We had a kidnapping attempt when he was 4 or 5. The wife of Darryl F Zanik Jr called me and warned us of the threat children are facing. We got out of the business really fast.
