She said in a recent interview that they actually recorded one. 15 mountain goats covers in the studio! I dont think it's intended for release, but exists somewhere

They did, unfortunately it didn’t get released.

@@blaebrobinson895 What a shame. I'm not a fan of TMG covers, but Laura Jane Grace _fucking slays_ them. I can only hope it'll be released eventually...

every time laura covers a mountain goats song... my heart grows another size bigger

And what happened then? Well at the Troubadour they say Laura's Dilaudid cover made Silas' heart grow three sizes that day!

I absolutely love LJG and everything about all of her music, but Adam is hands down the most perfect fit a drummer could possibly be for a band. His energy matches the music so fucking well, honestly it brings the energy of their concerts up tenfold, not that they aren’t already amazing

great, great cover. also makes you hear the metal influence in JD's own music. love it

The reception's gotten fuzzy The delicate balance has shifted Put on your gloves and your black pumps Let's pretend the fog has lifted Now you see me Now you don't Now you say you love me Pretty soon you won't If we get our full three-score and ten We won't pass this way again So kiss me with your mouth open Turn the tires toward the street And stay sweet All the chickens comein' home to roost Plump bodies blotting out the sky You know it breaks my heart in half, in half When I see them trying to fly 'Cause you just can't do Things your body wasn't meant to Hike up your fishnets I know you If we live to see the other side of this I will remember your kiss So do it with your mouth open And take your foot off of the brake For Christ's sake! I've been a fan since New Wave. Listened to the earlier stuff and liked it better. The voice, the honesty in the lyrics....there's genius there. The Mountain Goats and LJG are a great combo

God, I want her to cover all of The Mountain Goats songs to be honest
@MichaelDYoung-mrmike4 жыл бұрын
Let me preface this remark by stating that she can sing and has a stage presence and voice much larger and stronger that her youth and appearance would indicate - and that this cover and the mountain goats rip are well done and have some interesting roots and seem to pull from some late 70's and early 80's light speed metal club acts and out of mainstream punk. It's good stuff and well done - polished and with heart while still retaining genuine cred. Without taking anything away from either act I was introduced to this song while taking dilaudid for stage IV cancer - and the metaphor I feel in the lyrics reflects how my body feels when the nurse taps the syringe and pushes the drug. I would be unwilling to assign a sobriquet to the unpleasant experience but this song comes close to what I feel in my head and heart. Hope this does not distract from the talent and the performance - terminal cancer can be emotional.

Thanks a lot for sharing that. It sounds like the song had a special resonance, and I'm so pleased that even under sobering and bleak circumstances, it can bring some empathy and support. Thinking of you and your journey, my friend.
