Finally.... one of the best guitarists who understands that it is not all about being flashy and who can play the fastest. Bravo Laura!

She plays much of her concert with her eyes closed. No flash.

I've heard her give several full scale classical recitals, including one of the Julian Bream Trust concerts and she can play as fast and flashy as anyone. However, she is primarily a great musician and this is superb.

This performance is wonderful. Plato is rumored to have written that music finds its way into the secret places of the soul, and that perfectly describes my reaction to this performance. I'll be listening to this more than once to appreciate the nuances Ms Snowden's performance. And I'll be checking if it is possible to purchase her performances via streaming, CD or LP. BTW, thanks to Siccas Guitars for posting these videos. I've purchased music from the perforrmers featured here. This is a great source for learning about musicians.

I like summaries, so here it goes: an excellent guitarist with a wonderful voice. A meditative performance with some very pretty moments like black is the color, the mysterious barricades, and that last one, the song for Maria. That changing sky and the trap I found to be weird, bordering on unpleasant. Laura has a beautiful voice, but she does a lot of scooping; when you go to the right note by starting a note lower, and then you slide your way to the right one. That is not a compliment.
@JohnTaylor-pj2mr2 ай бұрын
Your summary is an honest, dispassionate account of your reactions to Laura's performance. That is not a compliment. It's perhaps not your fault that you failed to be captivated by Laura's ability to turn the simplest phrase into heart-stopping magic, conveying great depth of feeling with a few exquisitely spaced notes and barely perceptible gestures. Or by her dark, occasionally self-mocking sense of humour, and the quirky individuality of her creations. But this is your loss, not a want of critical faculties on the part of all the others who have left comments. She's a very fine classical guitarist, now revealing herself as an imaginative artist with a unique personality - not some callow student who needs your tuition in how to do things properly.
@niceguitar61442 ай бұрын
@@JohnTaylor-pj2mr well, I'll dare argue with the great John. I complimented Laura as a guitarist, a singer, and an artist. Perhaps you should read more carefully instead of teaching people how to formulate and summarize their opinions. Am I supposed to love every word that comes out of her mouth because she's a good classical guitarist with a pretty voice? I hope you will forgive me, but I didn't like two of her songs. However, I quite like the other two she performed. Laura would quickly get bored around your language elegance and articulate sentences, Your admiration for every word she spoke, and endless complements for every note she played on her guitar; since I like summaries: it's all quite pathetic in my view. Go write adoring fan mail to Laura instead of lecturing me on my opinions.

@@niceguitar6144 OK, we've both had our say, so how about calling a truce, before this exchange starts to spoil anyone's pleasure? Let's say you're perfectly entitled to deliver your condescendingly faint praise , and I'm allowed my pompous reply - deal?
