Your room is beautiful and cozy - and this was a fun tour! I used to scrap in my dining room as well, but I could never keep it properly contained, so I went back to my spot in the basement where the mess doesn't bother me as much LOL..... It helps to figure out how you think about your supplies. Some people can identify a paper or pack of stickers by collection, so organizing that way works for them. Some people need to see everything they have, so open storage is best. Some people need things sorted by type (all the stickers together, etc.). Mine is a mix of the three!

Wrap a rubberband around the end of the washi pegs. Although it won't stop them from coming off, they cannot slide off as easily. I have this problem with my adding machine roll in my office and that's how I combat the issue! Also, what size are those albums in the KALIX? The last ones you showed with your kids color-specific ones. I'm shopping for something to hold my completed albums.

Great suggestion, Natalie! I'll give it a try. I do think that a pair of plyers might be able to angle the end of those pegs easily though, we shall see! I have 12x12 and 9x12 albums in the Kallax. It's perfect for them!

Late to the video, but I always love hearing how others organize their space! I think very similar to you, my ADHD brain also remembers things by collection, and I'm very much a flipper. I recently changed my letter storage to something flip-able and it's made such a big difference! For the carts you have - do you find there's a good amount of space between the "shelves"? I worry that the spacing is too tight and I wouldn't be able to easily move things in and out. I'd probably use them for bins with flip-able stuff in them so there needs to be enough room.
@lauraalbertscrafts3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Morgan! Yes! I think my space is very ADHD friendly. When I put the two carts side by side, the Ikea one has more space between the shelves and stands a few inches taller. So, if you're looking for flippable friendly space, I'd go with that one (plus it's way cheaper!).

I have discussed my desire to make each of my grown children a scrapbook/scrapbooks of their childhood, but they only want 1. It seems like such a daunting task! I have a 2 drawer file cabinet full of their school papers and artwork over the years, so that’s another thing adding to the overwhelm! I know that a lot will be purged in the process, but still… So far, all of my grandchildren live out of state, so I want to make my 18 yr old granddaughter as well as a family scrapbook for the little ones to document our times spent together. Any advice for how you started and what to include/leave out? I would really appreciate your advice since you’ve already finished two!

@@lindabeckman3053 Hi Linda, my pleasure. I selected as many baby and childhood pictures as I could find. I tried to put them in chronological order from birth to about 18. I decorated standard-themed pages for birthdays, special events, amusement parks, etc. I did journaling on the occasions as much as I could remember. I also put in their report cards, special awards, certificates. I shrunk oversized bulky items; I took pictures and sent them electronically. Or I copied, and I shrank essential things to put them in the 12 x 12 album. I’m just now working on the other three. I can’t believe I let a whole year pass. I made pages of their proms, graduation, getting a driver's license, etc. I pretty much stopped at 18 years old or college. I hope this helps. Thank you for asking.

Awesome room tour, Laura!! I'm glad to know about the rolling carts. I have been thinking about purchasing one.. do they fit under your IKEA table top, if you don't put too tall of goodies in the top bucket? Also, love that your chair doesn't look like it has wheels, but looks super comfy too! And, I knew your birthday was in Sept., but didn't realize you were a Virgo. I am too - Sept. 8th! And, I love your huge kallax for your albums, but what are you going to do when you run out of space? I'm not there yet.. I only have 4 completed albums, but hope to one day have a huge kallax like this for all the albums!
@lauraalbertscrafts3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Emily! No, the carts do not fit under the table top, great question! I think you may be able to get longer legs than the standard ones though and that might work. I love this chair, though it is a little low for my desktop, it's been amazing for my back. It's intended to be for a living room and has a foot stool too! Yes, I am a Virgo! My birthday is Sept. 21st. I expect that my kids will take their albums in the future which will free up some space, but if necessary, I'll get a 2x4 kallax and put it on top of the 4x4. Honestly, I don't expect this to be an issue for a long time, half of my albums are partial. Another option is to scan the old albums into slim photo books. I plan to scan the layouts eventually so that I can make them digital.
@emilywhite92743 жыл бұрын
@@lauraalbertscrafts Oh, thank you! That is very helpful about the carts. That's one of the things I haven't actually researched yet. But, at some point when I get more organized, I'd like to find a cart that rolls and can be stored under the desk and provide extra storage, but be pulled out when I'm sitting at the desk. I also need to get a better chair - I'm sitting at a cushioned type dining chair. One day! Oh, yes, I would love to scan and keep a digital copy of my layouts, but I've read posts online that places in town like FedEx kinkos and office depot can't scan 12 inches.. that's been a while ago now, so that may have changed as technology has evolved. I'll have to write your birthday down in my planner, so I can wish you a HBD!
