These toys were definitely a 'thing' in the UK back in the 80's (my childhood) as I remember having one - either red or orange, and they were called Space Hoppers. Loved seeing this layout come together :) xxx

Oh gosh - we had one of these balls about a hundred years ago! I think the black and white helps to “contain” the many colors and makes them work together very well. You nailed it!

Thank you, Wendy! I agree black and white grounds bright colors beautifully! These toys were so much fun!

I thought I was the only one who didn’t keep scraps - woohooo - I’m not alone!
@lauraalbertscrafts4 жыл бұрын
Yes ma'am! I just don't see the point. I have more paper than I will likely ever use in my lifetime! I work the kit until I just have scraps and then move on. Why hang on to scraps when I have gobs of full sheets available? I could see keeping the scraps if I didn't have a stash and couldn't afford supplies, that would make total sense.

Thank you very much, Ellen! No, I wanted to major in art, but chose English/Writing instead. Arts and crafts have been a big part of my life for a long time though! I'm so glad they're helpful!

Lovely layout! It is very cohesive and put together! Thank you for all the tips on using scraps and making a layout cohesive! I would have hesitated to punch out shapes from the kite and umbrella, but I am learning that it makes more sense to use things NOW rather than waiting for a perfect layout! I still struggle with throwing out paper scraps and punch out shapes or try to make cards. I need to use them up quickly though or they increase the stuff I have to sort and find a place for. I am learning with all things not just scrapbook items that managing them costs time and can lead frustration and indecision. After you finished this layout did you have embellishments left and what did you do with them? You mentioned that some went into this months kit. How did you sort and put away the others?
@lauraalbertscrafts4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Colleen! My way of thinking is that the umbrellas and kites made it on the page, in whatever form that is, they’re there! Better they get used than sit in my stash, is my thinking! Most of the leftover embellishments were fussy cut florals, I’ve used some on cards and moved others forward to the next kit. Otherwise, I have a small container on my desk that I use as a “grab bag” and try to reach for it first when I need “a little something.” I clean it out at the end of the month of any bits I doubt I will ever use and punch them for their colors. Then, the tiny punched shapes sit in another bowl and always get used up that way! I very rarely throw out die cuts unless I dislike the colors.

@@lauraalbertscrafts Great tips! A strategy I will definitely try! It sounds much easier than sorting and putting away! Thanks for sharing 😊❤️
