Do oranges really attract butterflies I was wondering?

I made a feeder yesterday. Sliced some oranges, added a little plain water. You can put out banana with peel too. I used a clay saucer.

In my butterfly garden I've noticed that the rotting bananas, more than the oranges, attract the butterflies. You can also use orange gatorade as well as the sugar water.
