I think that what you and Grant are doing with this channel is very important! I don't think many people recognize the importance of family farms in this country, much less what is involved on a day-to-day basis. You show clear, vivid pictures of the challenges and rewards of farming! Your passion and respect for farming and the landing itself are clear! Keep up the great work!

Three-quarters of a mile rows of corn! The scale of farming in Nebraska is absolutely mind-boggling. That's just one field and it's, what, 3 or 4 hundred acres? My wife's family in Japan grows rice and igussa (the floor mat grass) on a couple of 4-hectre (8.8 acre) plots. Tiny tractors and combines the size of a Skid-Steer. You showed us one at a farm equipment show. You're just 10k away from half a million subs. Yippie-ki-yay! 🤠

Hi, just a word from an old fqrmer of years ago. I am not sure which ways your rows all run in the corn field, however, it is possible that some hybrids of corn are more prone to blowing over in the wind, like you dealt with, and other hybrids take the wind better, like the last fields you have been harvesting. Just food for thought! I have been a Nebraska resident all my life and know what winds you deal with

Thanks for another great video Laura and Grant. It was interesting and enjoyable. Sorry your corn head has a break down again. That has happened to you several times now. Is it the age of the head or another reason??!!! Glad you found another head to demo. You might be able to make a deal for it. Just saying. Those irrigation pivot wheels were really stuck. Good going getting them out. Gage did a super job in the combine. You have a great employee there in him although he is young. Good person for your operation. Nice having that sixteen row head. You can do more corn with that bigger head. Yea!!!!!!!! Busy busy harvest time. You all hang in there. You all take care and be safe. Thanks for everything Laura and Grant. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.

I was wondering about how you monitor your pivots. So many things can go wrong and maybe you wouldn't know for days. Do you have a telemetry monitoring system? Also, what is the trade off using the 16 rather than 12 row head. Do you have to drop off the speed by much?

That was a real "Corny" video! What is the aggregate Bushel Per Acre of your harvest to date? Better or worse than previous? When harvesting, what is moisture content? Looks like the larger "head" did a great job for the day's usage. What is your experience of MTBF/mean time between failure of those gearboxes?

Question: you have some tractors with tracks instead of wheels. Would the pivots work better with tracks?
@rodrod383
@rodrod383 11 ай бұрын
there are a lot of different kinds of wheels for pivots, but with actual tracks they would create much too large of a footprint because of the fact that it is going in a circle.....with a wheel you take out the area that touches the ground, but with a track well the area that touches the ground is not much larger.....they would work better, but you would have a much wider rut to deal with and more crop loss
