Corn looks great! Too dry here for corn surprisingly. Last three years were way to wet and now it's dry for once. I love your reactions to all of the mail. You, your family, and Grant all seem like wonderful people. Thanks for taking us along on your farming journey. The videos are wonderful.

Happy early 4th of July! The field looks great! I wish I could do that with the windows on my house. Love the impromptu mail opening! But there is one thing I want you to consider. As you become more popular there will inevitably be dangerous/inappropriate mail. Just be careful! We love you. But there are baddies out there and we don't want them hurting you. I have at least 4 channels who won't do gift opening videos anymore because of some of the things they have received. And really I can't blame them one bit. Take more time to inspect packages from strangers, even the ones that love you and send snacks! Take care and God Bless!

I worked for AT&T for 30 years in San Francisco. We could order clothing every year and got an endless supply of t shirts, mock T's and long sleeve T's. When I retired I had well over 200 never worn t shirts. These are top wear. Thick cotton and high quality. Not undershirts. In 30 years you will have 10's of thousands at this rate. When I sold my house and started RVing full time I made packs of t shirts and socks (another thing I had huge amounts of) and under ware (that I bought new, I mean, come on!) about 100 pairs of jeans (all trendy today because of pole climbing. Nails on poles almost always catch the knees and make holes) and made packages to leave around San Francisco. I figured if I was homeless the one thing I would always want would be a change of these specific items. I'm close to everyones' size (6 ft tall about 200lbs so the 5'9"s can still wear them in a pinch). It was less of a "nice thing to do" than it was a really quick and easy way to get rid of a lot of stuff I didn't need.

Taught my grand-daughters "knee high by 4th of July" since they could walk...They live right next to a corn field and are always measuring the corn for me...Looks like youll need to visit the Post Office more often! Post Office days are my favorite just to watch you open the mail...Keep up the awesome job with your channel...You all make me miss farming...

Knee high by the 4th of July is a phrase from before hybrids. Open pollinated maze (before hybrids) would be about knee high by the 4th. I grow some heritage strains and they are far slower to take off than hybrids. Technology changes everything. A day's ride used to be 20 to 25 miles.....today it is more like 500 miles (horse vs. car). Many of the old saying are quaint and quite interesting in origin.....but not very applicable to the 21st Century.

"Knee high by the 4th of July" was only relevant before irrigation. It doesn't apply to irrigated crops. Modern farming invalidates a lot of the old standards.

The worm and ring style is my least favorite type of gearing system. All the load and wear will take place on a single thread of the worm. Although not practicle in this application, the planetary gear system is my favorite.

It use to have to be like that 50 years ago. Now they mean that any kids born when the crops go in have to be knee high and walking by the 4th of july. lol If they make that cut off then they will be big enough in Nebraska to help hay by fall. lol What I have found now a days is that if corn is close to a month behind if it gets the consistant heat and humidity and rains at the right time it will do just fine if its half that tall by the 4th.
