It must have been very satisfying seeing all that corn going into the cart, after working hard all season growing it. You must be thinking that is money. I wonder how much quicker the larger head was than the smaller head. Love to you all from Mike. ❤

Years ago, you picked the corn, put it in cribs to dry, and in late winter or early spring, you shelled what you would take to the elevator. At the elevator, like now, you got weighed full and empty.

It's 'Pick on Grant' day! If the first Snout death be by Grant - homemade dinner (not Mac and Cheese) for Laura (still working on Laura's). Gage should invent a corn vacuum that can collect the spilled corn and separate it from the other stuff on the ground. Save a bundle on wasted corn. Nice look at the daily routine of harvesting. By the end of harvest, the new head will feel normal.

At the beginning of the video when you are in the combine with Grant. With your hair all bundled up on top of your head. That vibe invokes the thought of hard working, late 1800's good hearted woman. Anyways. If you took a still shot and applied some pencil drawing filter. It would make a good 'Long Live the Ogallala' T-shirt!

Grant is an amazing husband. I'm convinced he intentionally had the first episode of "cab corn" so you (Laura) did not have that embarrassment. He will probably crash the first snoot so you don't have that hanging over you for the life of the new corn header. Laura... you better hang on to him. He's doing the things we husbands do for our wives.

that thing must be really heavy besides awkward the way it squats the front of the combine, even with big duals on front.

The 16 row planter now makes sense. Otherwise a 12 row head will keep your combine busy. You’ll run a fair bit slower than the 12 row. And the yields aren’t crazy, I get it. We run an X9 and a 12 row keeps er full at 5 to 5.5 mph in 270 bushel corn. If you get 270, you’ll be lucky to get 3 mph .
@jokertt144 сағат бұрын
seems like you would want to lease a combine

Without going into detail, I would love to hear how finances work on a farm? Do you own or rent your equipment? What is annual budget for equipment? Why do you grow corn if soybeans are worth three times as much money? You mentioned that you can't fill all of your positions so you work with what you have If true, and you can get by, why would you hire someone you don't need? Given the look of most farms I watch, it seems like all are doing pretty well financially.
