I enjoyed your video..I agree with you on the diary subject..I would never write down my true feelings just in case someone accidentally reads what you wrote..you could start a fight..I do wish I had one of those vanity tables though..😊

I still have my diary that was given to me when I was 14 by a mentor of mine. That whole book documents my life from age 14 to after my 25th birthday. Reading it was so strange seeing my growth from young teen to adulthood.

If I were designing a 50's bedroom it would be sunshine-filled with lots of light. The curtains are sheer and fringed with ruffles around white blinds. A pink-rose patterned bedspread with red rose satin pillows. Light Scandinavian wood furniture with a vanity dresser and a satin covered seat in front of it. White lamps with floral lampshades on the nightstands with a pink radio. A mirrored vanity tray with glass perfume bottles with atomizers on the vanity. There would be a glass and wood curio cabinet in the corner with collectibles. The paintings would be pastel watercolors and the walls would be a light pastel to pick up the light from the windows. Lots of inspiration from your video!

I would love to see you do a video like this on the 1930's or 40's bedrooms/bath. We've bought a home built in 1939 and we want to decorate it and restore it to the way it was when it was built. Keep up the great work!

Reading someone else's diary is IMO the lowest of the low! My parents' bedroom looked much like the ones you showed. True "shag" carpeting with the long fibers became popular in the 1970's, not the 1950's. I also remember beautiful, semi-sheer criss-cross curtains that my mother had on the windows. I still love that look and wish it would come back! Thanks for the great trip down Memory Lane!❤

My mom LOVED antiques and all things old, especially furniture. I now have her antique radio (not sure which decade but I suspect 40s or 50s) in my living room. It's a real ice breaker and conversation starter! I remember when mom had it in her bedroom and my foot went through the original cloth part. I was doing cartwheels which she told me to stop for that very reason (it's annoying how right she was about most things) So, the cloth had to be replaced unfortunately, but it's still beautiful

This may be my absolute favorite of yours! Thank you for being so wonderfully thorough on this subject. Ever since I purchased my beloved 1945 Colonial Revival style Home 🏡 a little over a year ago, I have been dedicating myself and diving headlong into decorating the entirety of my Home in a rather hyper-feminine, Vintage-inspired style. These 1950s bedroom examples are absolutely apt and excellent representations of my decorating style (with Marie Antoinette's ornate and French private quarters at the Palais Versailles thrown in). The pastel colors, sumptuous fabrics, unabashed girliness, and antiquated leanings are all very much my taste. I MUST acknowledge "Collections, Etc" as they make many reasonably priced Vintage style Bedspreads, Bedskirts, Curtains, Lamps, and other homewares! 🖤

We had linoleum floors in our bedroom in the 1950’s. We also had wide slate Venetian blinds with silky peach curtains.

Now, THESE are the pieces you do to which I REALLY look forward! Are you gonna’ do similar ones for each of the other decades of the 20th century (& if that’s not your plan, may I suggest that you consider such)? Your presentations are very informative & so soothingly delivered. I LOVE ‘EM! Thanks, Ms. Atelier. 👍💋😊

As "shag" deep pile carpeting first entered home decor in the 1970s, 1950s homes and bedrooms were overfloored with broadloom carpet that extended wall to wall, or with large to smaller area oriental rugs.

Those 1950s bedcovers/ bedspread’s power lasted to the 1990s. Everyone had a grandma who had a room like that, everyone rotated in and out of in various ages of life😂 Everyone had a pastel/ wood vintage room. It definitely was a style of the 1950s that fashion dynamic propelled for two more decades at least Fun note: Those chenille bedspreads were mostly used for decorating. You would take them off when you were sleeping 🛌. They had to be folded a certain way to get that perfect folded crease and symmetrical look. Believe I know 😂
@sylviamitbrodt15627 ай бұрын
We had bedspreads with little fluffy tufts on them. I think you call them chenille bedspreads. Everyone used them. We also had blankets and sheets. Now we are using quilts and duvet covers.
