It's still baffling how few people know about this mine fire, but thanks to our videos, more people are now aware of it.

There are more then we think for sure. I hope to look into finding more of them and filming them in the future. Stay tuned and thank you. 😊

Awesome video RJ! I never knew of this fire. We still have 2 that I know of still burning here in Kentucky but we don't hear much about them anymore.

I had heard about it about 2 years ago, we just finally got the opportunity to go and check it out for ourselves. It is amazing to hear about all of the different ones out there. Glad you enjoyed Mitch.

If it is anything like Centralia, I am sure there is more then enough to keep it going for hundreds of years sadly.

Im reading a book on mining history written in 1970 and it suggests at that time there were 95 underground coal mine fires still burning in Pennsylvania. 68 in bituminous and 27 in anthracite mines.

The Giant's Despair Hillclimb is one of America's oldest motorsports events, starting in 1906, and still run today the second weekend of July. So it was being run several years before the mine fire started. Houses can be seen on both sides of the road in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnPKZKl_epaMg6M

Thank you for sharing that, I know that JP had found that as well and told me about how long it has been going. Perhaps I should try to make the next one to film it??? 🤔 Sounds like it would be a fun day. I appreciate the info.

Sir, with all due respect. The city is Wilkes-Barre, not Wilkesboro. I have lived here all my life and know people who had to move because of the mine fire.
