О визуализации образов, которую вызывает у неё вся вокальная партия. Мы имеем дело с артистом, умеющим воспроизводить как будто настоящие краски на холсте с помощью своего голоса. Густые, насыщенные масляные краски, со множеством оттенков. У одного только слова "ночь" здесь - четыре или пять разных красок; во всей же песне их множество. Это не просто краски - это ночные, тёмные краски, каждая из которых точно на своём месте, каждая рисует конкретный образ. Артистов, способных на таком уровне, так разнообразно работать со звуком - вообще немного, но способных так работать именно с тёмными красками - единицы. I believe this is an adaption of a well known Russian poetess's work (Marina Tsvetaeva) written about 100 years ago. She was suffering from insomnia at the time and wrote several poems about her experience. Diana sang another of her poems put to music on the Masked Singer in early 2023 which was a beautiful performance. One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. The author of song is begging the horses to slow down (he is aware he is approaching death), but, at the same time he is whipping them along (his chaotic lifestyle) - he knows that his lifestyle is taking him to an early death, however, he is unable to change it.....the composer of the song, Vladimir Vysotsky, was a singer-songwriter, poet, and actor as well as an alcoholic & drug addict and died in 1980 at the age of 42. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqabmopvd8iKo7s . Her voice is completely mesmerizing. She has the ability to hypnotize and transport a person with her voice. I love this song. It is an incredible artistic expression that creates a lucid interpretation of the profound lyrics that were expressed by the author. There is a clip out there of Diana in the setting of the image for the lyric video. I have this hope that this would be turned into a music video. It would be incredible if a well done video was shot with her in her home city of Moscow and put with this song. Maybe someday 🤞❤

I love this song. This song was sculpted out of 100 year old Russian poetry...about dealing with insomnia. It's an observational portrait. Diana makes my mind wander too. A carefree youth came to an abrupt end with the death of her mother (1910) and the outbreak of revolution and civil war (1917-1922). She was unprepared for the world outside. Her assets will be confiscated as “non-work income.” In 1912 she married Sergei Efron; They had two daughters and later a son. Efron fighted against the Bolschewiki, and Tsvetaeva was separated from him during the Civil War. Marina Tsvetaeva was a woman with excessive passions, born into a world that had completely lost the measure of humanity. There are many evil depths in Tsvetaeva's life, often stemming from her narcissistically disturbed personality.They don't really fit into the image of the romantic poet, the sensual lines of her poems. Even her most loyal friends were often deeply shocked by her behavior, and fans of her poetry still are today. Despite all the adverse living conditions, everything she ever wanted to do was write. During the period of hunger, she gave her daughters to a children's home out of necessity. Her second daughter starved to death there. In her notes in German (wrote since 1913) Marina Tsvetaeva sketches her hard everyday life full of poverty, hunger, deprivation and worries. At the same time, she thinks about writing and how things begin to shine. “I see everything in my own way.” With every syllable she felt like she was leaping over space and time. Her romantic principles were the dominance of emotion, the dark and the fateful. With her language experiments she goes further than many other poets of her time. “The thought-dash has an accelerating effect - in a mysterious way.” wrotes Josef Brodsky (1940-1996, Russian-American poet and Nobel Prize winner for literature) Marina Tsvetaeva was enthusiastic about Germany, but of course during the First World War this was in complete contradiction to the anti-German sentiment in Moscow. However, her love for Germany as her “inner fatherland” has nothing to do with political Germany. The enthusiasm as the land of Goethe and Kant appears often in her work. She emigrated to Berlin, Prague and Paris in 1922 and found her missing husband again. Tsvetaeva was shunned by the Russian exile community in Paris. Brandon Stone composed this superb song for Diana. It sets a poem that was written in 1916 by one of Russia's greatest poets, Marina Tsvetaeva. Marina was a very troubled and tragic figure. The poem is about alienation not just from the world but from one's own self. Diana's performance is especially poignant because in 1919, only three years after writing the poem, Marina had placed her two daughters into a state orphanage where, a year later in 1920, one of them - Irina, the namesake of Diana's adoptive mother - was to die of starvation. This catastrophe was one of several that punctuated Marian's life at fairly regular intervals. In the end she committed suicide.

Marina Tsvetaeva wrote the poem "In a huge city" back in 1916 after breaking off relations with her beloved Sofia Boyuk and returning to her husband and daughter. It was a period of depression, mental emptiness and insomnia in a huge city. Very modern, isn't it? The poetess explained her unusual connection very simply and succinctly. She said that love between women is wild, and loving only men is very boring. But she called her relationship with Sofia "the first disaster in her life." The rhythm of the song resembles the steps of a lonely, insomniac woman in a deserted nighttime huge city. Diana and Brandon brilliantly conveyed the state of mind of the poetess at that time. Definitely, Diana is an extraordinary pop singer. She creates her own genre - it's super emotional singing and spiritual contact with each viewer through her voice. This genre requires extreme nervous tension from the vocalist. In this, Diana has no equal among female singers.

"In my huge city" This is a poem written by one of the biggest female poets in Russia Marina Tsvetaeva (1892-1941). Her poems are very complicated and have a lot of meanings. This one is part of a cycle of 11 poems called Insomnia, it is the second poem of the cycle. She wrote this when she was suffering from insomnia, she generally did not like her life during the day and she could not sleep during the night but in that half asleep - half awake dream like state walking at night through a big city she found a certain beauty and that is what she explores and analyzes in this poem. Diana managed to catch the essence of that 'night walking - dreamlike, intoxicating state' with her voice and pass it on to the listeners, another great piece of music has been born between Marina's words, Brandon's music and Diana's voice.

Greetings from Scotland! There is the state of "being in the zone" then there is the enhanced state of "being in the Diana zone" where time and reality no longer exist! If you are an insomniac, you may spend a lot of time walking around at night when everyone else is tucked up asleep, at home in their beds. Basically, that's the story she tells here. Beautifully sung by Diana in that naturally deep, chocolate toned, silky voice of hers. Set to music by Brandon Stone. Originally from a poem by the famous Russian Poet, Marina Tsvetaeva way back in July 17, 1916. Insomnia. In my enormous city it is - night... *For informational purposes* On 31 August 1941, while living in Yelabuga, Tsvetaeva hanged herself. She left a note for her son Mur: "Forgive me, but to go on would be worse. I am gravely ill, this is not me anymore. I love you passionately. Do understand that I could not live anymore. Tell Papa and Alya, if you ever see them, that I loved them to the last moment and explain to them that I found myself in a trap." According to the book "The Death of a Poet: The Last Days of Marina Tsvetaeva", the local NKVD department tried to force Tsvetaeva to start working as their informant, which left her no choice other than to die by suicide.

Interpretation of Diana and Brandon’s song “In a Huge City”: The great Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva gave birth (not “wrote”!) poems with a quality of meaning inseparable from the sound of her words in Russian. It is IMPOSSIBLE to understand the meaning of these poems, or rather, these sounds without perceiving their Russian sound (try translating Kipling, or Byron, or Shakespeare into Russian, and then back into English! Try it!). This is exactly what Diana and Brandon are doing in this song - the correspondence of meaning and sounds. This cannot be explained in words: how to add up the sum of meanings and the sound of speech??!! This can only be heard by the soul. To hear, repeated many times, a combination of melody, words and sounds of instruments, the main one of which is Diana’s voice - the most complex of them all.
