You should definitely check out Frosty the Snowman. Never been terrified of that snowman until Tarja put her spin on the song.

I like your reaction and I love your insights. Thanks for that. The First Noel is a great opening track that definitely hints at what we can expect from the Dark Christmas album. Definitely something dark and beautiful. My favorites from this album are O Holy Night and Jingle Bells.

Thank you!! I liked that you first just listened the song through and then watched it the second time and focused on what you thought about it. I love this whole Dark Cristmas album by Tarja! It is so good and exactly what I needed! I was starting to get so bored of the old, same versions of these classic Christmas songs and then Tarja comes up with this one🤌 Tarja is a genius. My favourites from the album are O Holy Night, Jingle Bells Rock and now this new version of Frosty the Snowman has really grown on me. Those are definitely worth checking out too (well, the whole album is🙃).

Great reaction. :) It's Tarja's second dark christmas album, this is from last year and first one is from 2017 and is called "From Spirits and Ghosts (Score for a Dark Christmas)". Idea for these album was that christmas isn't happy time for everyone, Tarja herself couldn't enjoy this time of year for longer time after her mother death, so she wanted to create dark versions of christmas songs for those who not feel happy and can't enjoy normal/traditional happy christmas songs, there's many people who lost someone of from many different reasons it's sad time for them, so I think it's brilliant idea. I myself found help in that first dark christmas album during christmas in 2020, first christmas after my mom's death, so I can say it really can helps. :) There is that korean rock band Jaurim and they released EP called "Merry Spooky X-mas", there is great cover of "Winter Wonderland" if you're interested to react to it. :) But there is only audio version, not musuc video. Or there is "A Grim Christmas Story" by Dark Sarah, very spooky. :)

Back story is Tarja lost her mother near christmas 2002/3. Hard to celebrate when you are in mourning obviously. Now yes no doubt being a mother to Naomi (2012) helped. (And she is her father's daughter as is obvious when you see Marcello. Tarja and Marcello married New Year's eve 2002. Naomi sings in the creepy children's choir. Those are her classmates. They are in the music program together. The one that exista because Tarja paid to have it started. (funny how that works eh?) The kids picked 20 songs. Tarja narrowed it to 11. The point is these songs are in the tradional darker tone that such carols and hymns would be in centuries ago. She even rescued All I want for Christmas and Last Christmas from Mariah Carey and Wham respectively. The kids took a year to prepare for the recording of the album. All 12 tracks have visualizers that form a movie along with the BTS and interview. Naomi plays piano sings and loves to play drums. Taking after her mother there. The point was to create a darker more fitting christmas album beffiting life in the North of the world. Not the sacchrine stuff from mid 20th Century ala Bing Crosby or Frank Sinatra through to the 90s. But also beautiful to fit the joy and wonderful season with Tarja's signature of metal and German Lied ( leed) singing techniques. The her exposure to & through Nightwish. The latter via her formal education with a Master's in Music. Add the freinds in her band including Joe Satriano on Guitar or Max on Cello. Turning the song Rudoph from major chords to minor chords makes it instantly spooky. And Tarja's intense gaze is mezmerizing. Puts a spell on me. Love spell though so nothing spooky about it, to me. Angels we have heard on high and album track Dark Christmas her original composition help create a christmas album for those not moved by traditionsl comercial offerings. The purose of Saturnalia, of which Christmas was adopted to replace was to celebrate being halfway out of the dark and back into returning light. A theme certainly in keeping with the Christmas. christian message, of the light coming down to light the long dark night. Not required you take that as literal truth to recognize the symboluc imagrey of the belief. A point to celebrate, the returning day out of the night. A theme explored in the track. Merry Christmas and to all a complete Tarja musical experience. 😂❤

All Tarja's songs in this album has err... certain "not commercial Christmas" tone. I would wait after this my Xmas gifts cautiously. A big sack full of severed heads😰🥶 "Frosty The Snowman" kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZrbZZl5p55kppo and "TARJA 'Jingle Bells' - Official Video" kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmGqYqCplLNgac0 are creepy good... I recommend: Sabaton's (to real events based) ""SABATON - Christmas Truce (Official Music Video)"" Kit has reacted to it year ago and you may have heard it, but anyhow I did not find your reaction?
