Hey Lauren, while cruising, way back in the 70s, through the 90s, we never served any liquid in anything but a big cup with a loop handle. We did this so that no one, me, the Captain, my wife, or my two sons 7+ and 11+ years ever spilled anything, hot or cold on themself or anyone else in the boat. Nor did anyone spill any liquid on any piece of electronic equipment. You might want to try this now that the horse is out of the barn. It worked. Good luck with your coffee, soup and etc.

I absolutely LOVE rainy days on a boat. Water gets calm. Perfect temps all day long. Slight rumble of thunder in the distances...all day. Sunsets are pretty but as the night sets in...the sky clears. The view of lightening storms in the distance are breath taking. Some nights...multiple. 😎

I have no idea how I got here but I am now hooked and starting to go through all your videos. I subscribed and I don’t do that to many channels. I am impressed. I hate taking the garbage out by myself and here you are doing so much alone. I am a New Yorker but I spend 4-6 weeks every winter in Antigua. I have met a lot of people that sail here from the US. It is a beautiful island and I enjoy hearing the stories they tell. I stay at a resort and they do have a small bay and people anchor for a small fee and they can opt for the all inclusive package that is offered. Not sure if you are familiar with the Talisker whiskey Atlantic challenge but the race starts in the Canary Islands and ends here and the teams row across the Atlantic 3000 miles. It ends at Nelsons Dockyard and the mega yachts and sailboats docked here are very impressive. I will continue to follow your journey and who knows maybe one day see you anchored out in the bay. It does stay fairly hot and to cover is miserable I get that sun is believed to cause skin cancer but there are more ways to protect from it not just living in misery, hope you get past the skin cancer my friend

I spent 35 years surfing every day. Sun damage happens over time, breaking down the collagen in your skin, especially the face. I have a LOT of wrinkles now, from spending hours in the sun every day, and living in Hawaii for ten years.

An excellent season filled with adventure! Here's to a very Happy New Year! Your videos have been a challenge to make and we appreciate what you're able to produce. Seems GoPros and lithium camera batteries don't like high heat, maybe look at a refrigerated/cooler bag way to charge and or store them, may help them from swelling up. Pro tip: work on a little less close up walk and talks and try for more visual narrative storytelling. Keep composition, steadiness, and sound in mind. GoPros have their place but sound recording isn't great. Practice makes perfect in sailing and filming, take some time with your gear and look at stabilizers and sound. Not sure what type of storage drives you use but now with your new computer look at solid state drives, I think they might handle the tropical heat better. You're an awesome sailor and I know you can be a spectacular filmmaker too! Looking forward to your next adventures!

👁️👁️👍 I fell in love with water makers when I was young and passionate about coral propagation and coral reef building while landlocked in Denver. I wonder if placing a UV sterilizer in the system wouldn't be a great upgrade. IMHO, I think the UV light is best placed into the GAC cartridge but I've noticed others prefer installation later stage or final. I learned how to remove and install my laptop keyboard. The ribbon tape electrical connectors deserve attention but it's so easy to accomplish that I find myself cleaning underneath regularly. ✌️♥️👍

I'm sure other have mentioned but you can always pull a hard drive out of a laptop or pc/apple and use it as an external connected drive and still read it. unless the drive truly has failed (dropped, heads wont read etc) you should be able to recover your data. There is also PC software that can ready apple drives... been there done that! Merry Christmas!

So I’m a power boater and I started watching another woman solo sailor’s channel (initials WH) who sails around the world and recently came across your channel and videos. So you two make me look like a lightweight despite my accomplishments. (I even created my first gmail account just to subscribe to your channel!) So I’m thinking of ditching the yacht for a sailboat even though the only knot I can tie is basically my shoelaces. Did you get a spare Danforth anchor at 7:34?? It looked a little ratty maybe...couldn't tell. My poor cat(Mango) still thinks you are calling him because the name sounds so close to Manko? Oh macbooks go kerputsky pretty quickly on the ocean. I lost three in three years just because of the salt air. I switched to a Gaming LAptop PC and put MacOS on it. So I have a PC macbook. Running a computer repair shop I saw so many dead/corroded macbooks. Apple doesnt coat the boards at all so any spills go straight into the electronics. Most manufacturers put on a coating like a clear nail polish that protects the circuit boards....nooooo not Apple...not very much. Also they rivet in the keyboards so if you spill on them there is no effective way to repair them. Sometimes an external keyboard can work, depending if the liquid got al the way down to the mainboard circuitry. Essentially the repair cost is tooooo much just for a dead keyboard. Most PC's you just buy a 15 dollar keyboard and clip it in...
